The American Sociological Association (ASA) has named Nicole Foti (Postdoctoral Fellow in the CTSA Postdoctoral Scholar at the Stanford Center for Biomedical Ethics-https://med.stanford.edu/bioethics/people/post_doctoral.html) the recipient of the 2025 Star-Nelkin Award, recognizing her outstanding contributions to the sociology of science, knowledge, and technology.

Foti was honored with the award on August 12 during the ASA’s annual meeting in Chicago.

Her award-winning article, “Beyond Biomedical Institutions: An Ethnographic Study of Community Science and the Rise of Alternative Therapeutic Imaginaries,” was published earlier this year in Social Science & Medicine. The piece was selected as the best scholarly article published in the past two years in the field.

Congratulations to Dr. Foti on this well-deserved recognition!
