The H.B. McDaniel Foundation & The California Association of School Counselors have partnered once again to provide California school counselors, counseling grad students and educators a day of professional development at Stanford University in April. Our Equity Institute is extremely relevant and all will leave with skills and tools to use in their profession. Our conference fees are kept low to encourage school counselors and grad students to attend. Feedback each year has always been that our day of professional development is fun, engaging, useful and a well needed day of self care and community. To find out more, please check out the H.B. PBIS and Elementary School Counseling - Javier Gomez. And so so much more!

Tomorrow, September 29th is the day-long Youth Mental Health First Aid Training. There are a few more spots open, lunch included.

The H.B McDaniel Foundation Board will also meet tomorrow to discuss planning our next professional development conference for Northern CA school counselors and Grad Students. We will also be voting on the addition of a THIRD scholarship opportunity for Counseling-Grad Students. More updates to come!

Excited to announce the Inaugural San Joaquin Counselor Association / H.B McDaniel Foundation School Counselor Conference. September 28th-29th in Visalia, Ca. Come spend two days networking and learning about best practices in School Counseling in California. Day 2 will be dedicated to the Youth Mental Health Training - which is such a resource rich training for school counseling professionals. Check out Andres Castro's article just posted in the CASC Counselor Connection, May 9th. The article details the evening of the H.B. McDaniel Foundation Banquet Dinner held on April 21, 2018 at the Stanford Faculty Club. Highlights include: Awarding 3 scholarships to deserving graduate students in the field of school counseling. Andrea Lanter, from CSU Northridge received the Dale C. Burklund Memorial Research Scholarship. The James William Allen Memorial Service Scholarship awarded Phuong Tang from USF and Beatrice Tello from CSU Dominguez Hills.

The H.B. McDaniel Foundation awarded Felipe Reymundo Robinson-Zanartu from the Murrieta Valley Unified School District the 2018 Individual Award Winner.

And, we had the honor to induct three amazing advocates to the profession into our HALL OF FAME. Mary Anderson Honer, Nancy Jarman-Dunn, and our very own John Merris-Coots. Through their dedication, service, research, writing, mentoring, and advocating for their profession, they all continually demonstrate the values endeared to the legacy of Dr. H.B. McDaniel.
