Calling all University Innovation Fellows!!

The OSUxInnovationFellows are thrilled to host the first-ever Pioneers: Midwest meetup on Thursday, April 2nd - Saturday, April 4th at Ohio State University in Columbus, OH.

This three-day extravaganza is packed with masterclass workshops, incredible speakers, a tour of leading-edge start-ups in Columbus and of course, enjoying the best Columbus activities. We will be exploring how the Midwest is known for pioneering some of the world's most useful innovations, and how Columbus is evolving into a hub for emerging digital technologies.

As the semester and year wraps up, we wanted to update on what the UIF Team at Ohio State has accomplished!

1. The UIF Team introduced 4 new fellows stemming from diverse backgrounds and bringing another level of passion to the UIF program. Welcome Kai McKinney, Jen Schlegel, Lauren Saggar, and Andrew Bensik!

2. HUGE Congratulations to Jen Schlegel for being awarded the President's Prize with her accessibility-focused company, Handicom. Handicom is a software platform designed to address the technical barriers to success for persons who are physically disabled. This includes a mobile application that facilitates connections between ideas and written work, finger tap instead of a stylus, limited scrolling, and development of professional-level outputs. We are incredibly proud of you!

3. Another HUGE congratulation to Kai McKinney for winning the Ohio State BOSS Competition with his team at Helm. Helm is a community centered around the sport of problem-solving, fundamentally rethinking the tech hiring process. After spending the fall developing our product with tech companies in Columbus and HackOHI/O, Helm is officially launching in January 2020.

Last Update: the UIFOhioState Team is planning a groundbreaking event for next semester - stay tuned for the announcement in January!
