Olympia Bands

Olympia Band and Olympia Choirs have had two great weekends of Solo & Ensemble contest! All students did an incredible job, and we saw several really let loose and express themselves through their playing or singing! We are so proud of all students who performed - performing in a room full of family, friends, directors, judges is no easy feat!

To top it off, we had two entries selected as Best Of Day (best performance in their room for the day)!!

- Campbell Rummel: 8th grade Oboe Solo
- Leo Durheim, Brynne Fahsbender, Izzy Stivers, Ava Crebo: High School Clarinet Quartet

Today we had guest performer and tuba extraordinaire, Dr. Andy Rummel visit the OHS band. Dr. Rummel is the tuba/euphonium professor at ISU (also Olympia Band parent!), and has graciously shared part of his sabbatical with us. We got to hear his journey from small-town farm kid to professional tubist. He played some awesome tuba solos with electronic accompaniment!!

Thanks for visiting us - we had a blast!!

HUGE thank you to Gladden Music in Champaign and Megan Horner for working together to donate 26 stand lights for our band program!!

This will be incredible for our Madrigal and musical productions!

Next time you see a movie, pay attention to the credits. Did you know REAL HUMAN musicians are used in movie soundtracks? Sometimes the music is so incredible it is hard to believe it is created by humans.

All of these musicians started in some sort of school music program! Congrats to all the musicians in Wicked!

Congratulations to our students who represented Olympia Bands in the ILMEA District 3 Festival today at Olivet Nazarene University!

Students have to audition for this honor and are selected from hundreds of submitted auditions! Students from all across district 3 came together today to share a common passion: making music!

A very special congratulations to Campbell Rummel for being the first chair oboe player in the Junior band!!

Five of them are in band! Congrats Sixth Grade Hall of Fame students!!

These outstanding sixth graders are the first inductees to the Sixth Grade Hall of Fame. These students consistently exhibit the qualities identified as the sixth grade Honor Code and were nominated by their peers. Congratulations, Spartans!
