The Program in Human Biology is a dynamic interdisciplinary undergraduate program that approaches understanding the human being from biological, behavioral, social, and cultural perspectives. Human Biology was one of the first interdepartmental majors to be offered at Stanford, and it now boasts over 8,000 alumni working across a diverse array of fields. Human Biology provides students with a broad, comprehensive, and rigorous introduction to the biological and behavioral sciences and their interrelationships through a sequence of common core courses. Students explore how this knowledge, in conjunction with studies in other disciplines, can be applied to formulate and evaluate health, environmental, and other policies and practices that influence human welfare. Each student then builds upon this foundation by crafting an individualized course of study that draws on courses from across the university to reflect their personal academic interests. Human Biology also promotes student research through the Research Exploration (HB-REX), honors thesis, and Senior Synthesis programs. Networking and career mentoring workshops with the program’s diverse alumni is also offered year-round. The Program offers both a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Science degree option, as well as a minor and an honors program. Our students are extraordinary, often involved in numerous groups, teams, and research on campus and beyond. The program is honored to be the major of choice for many professional athletes and prestigious award-winning students including Fulbright and Knight-Hennessy Scholars.

Kick off the week by identifying the skills you’ve developed through HumBio and learning how to translate them into career-ready skills that employers are looking for.

Tuesday — Alumni Mentoring Dinner with Dr. Navneet Singh
Connect with Dr. Singh and hear about his journey through medicine, pediatrics, and beyond.

Wednesday — Alumni Mentoring Dinner with Ally & Neha
Hear from two HumBio alumni about their paths from Stanford to careers spanning healthcare, consulting, biotech, and healthtech.

Friday — Unpacking your Summer of Service Reflection Lunch
Come together to reflect on your community service experiences, share what you’ve learned, and explore how service connects to the broader mission of HumBio.

Hello HumBaddies! Join us for Hummus and Humbio: Humbio Declaration Night on Thursday, 10/29 at the HumBio Lounge (Building 20, Room 21A)!

Our HumBio student advisors will be there to help you with any declaration questions and receiving your approvals. Drop by our office anytime between 5:30–7PM to grab dinner (including some hummus of course) , ask questions, and officially declare your major! (If you’re an undeclared junior, this is especially for you!)

🍽️ Alumni Mentoring Dinner with Ally & Neha!

Join us for an evening of dinner, conversation, and career advice with Ally & Neha, two Stanford Human Biology alumni now working together on the Strategy & Operations team at Candid Health, a Series D healthtech company modernizing revenue cycle management.

🎓 Neha ’21 graduated with a BS in Human Biology, concentrating in Epidemiology and Healthcare Economics. She went on to work in healthcare consulting at Guidehouse and real-world evidence at Flatiron Health before joining Candid Health.

🎓 Ally ’19 graduated with a BS in Human Biology, concentrating in Sports Medicine and Physiology. A four-time national champion on Stanford’s Women’s Lightweight Rowing team, she began her career in life sciences consulting at Trinity Life Sciences before moving into product management at AI/biotech startup Nobias Tx.

Come hear about their journeys from HumBio to careers spanning healthcare, consulting, biotech, and healthtech—and ask your questions about life after Stanford! 💙

🍽️ Alumni Mentoring Dinner with Dr. Navneet Singh!

Join us for an evening of conversation, mentorship, and dinner with Dr. Navneet Singh, a pediatrician with Palo Alto Foundation Medical Group and a Stanford-trained pediatric resident.

Dr. Singh brings a thoughtful, family-centered approach to medicine, grounded in compassion, prevention, and evidence-based care. He is passionate about building meaningful relationships with families and making healthcare accessible to diverse communities. Fluent in English, Punjabi, Hindi, and Spanish, he brings a unique perspective on communication and patient care.

Come hear about his journey through medicine, his experiences in pediatrics, and what it means to build a career centered on caring for others. 🩺💙
