Oh That Middle School…where school spirit brings us together!
It’s 8th Grade Night week at LCMS, and we’re celebrating all week long with themed dress-up days, Eagle pride, and plenty of school spirit! (See pics for more info.)

Today, our students showed their LCMS Eagle Pride by wearing our school colors, while staff kicked off the evening with our annual Staff Tailgate before cheering on our Eagles! Final results of tonight's game versus Anderson: A Team 50-0 and B Team 27-0 GO EAGLES!!!

From classrooms to the stands, we’re making belonging, connection, and school pride visible. That’s how we !

Oh That Middle School…where students see learning come to life! Students in Mr. Brett’s Health classes took a hands-on approach to understanding the effects va**ng can have on the lungs and respiratory system. After researching the health risks associated with va**ng, students put their learning into action by creating DIY functional lung models that demonstrate how the lungs expand and contract during breathing.
This experience connected health education and research to a real-world question: How can the choices we make today affect our bodies and our future?
Through this hands-on learning, students were communicating their understanding, thinking critically, problem solving, and applying knowledge to a meaningful real-world context—the kind of skills that extend far beyond the classroom.

Oh That Middle School…where students learn by doing! Students in Mr. Hooper’s Library Encore are building skills through real-world, hands-on experiences—from organizing nonfiction using the Dewey Decimal System to setting up Chromebook repair stations and using the Ellison press cutter to create a bulletin board. A huge shoutout to Mr. Hooper and Mr. Logan for creating opportunities for students to problem solve, collaborate, communicate, and develop practical skills they can carry beyond the classroom!

Oh that Middle School - Students in Mr. Miller's Science class learning about cells and body systems with a hands-on lab where they looked at red onion skin cells under a microscope and watched the cell membrane at work.

Oh That Middle School...where students put critical thinking, communication, and citizenship into action. Students in Ms. Chambers’ 8th grade Social Studies class examined competing perspectives, conflict, rebellion, government authority, and the roots of the American Revolution as they analyzed primary sources and used evidence to defend their positions in a debate about Bacon’s Rebellion.

Today, our 8th Grade students participated in the Kentucky Shakespeare Educational Outreach Program, Living History: We the People!

Students explored how powerful primary sources have shaped America’s past, present, and future—from colonization and the American Revolution to Westward Expansion, the Progressive Movement, and beyond.

Our students represented LCMS well! They were engaged, well behaved, and asked thoughtful questions during the Q&A. 👏

When we understand where we’ve been, we can better understand where we’re going—and be the change we want to see.
