Forest Friends Licensed Daycare is tucked into the woods in Stanchfield, about ten minutes from downtown Cambridge. Our family enjoys many aspects of the great outdoors, which is how the name
came about. At Forest Friends, children are provided quality care in a safe and healthy environment where they may express themselves and develop as human beings. Patience, caring, and understanding are part

of the
nurturing process throughout the day. We follow a structured daily schedule that includes healthy and nutritious meals and snacks, learning activities, and free-play. We use weekly lesson plans from “Totes of Fun” preschool family child care curriculum that are built around a book of the week. Activities are designed not only to develop your child’s natural talents, but also to build areas that may need work. As part of the creativity process, your child is provided with a variety of activities that include: art and craft projects, play dough, baking, dancing, yoga, reading, story telling, puzzles, games, and much more! Children are encouraged to exercise, build physical strength, coordination, and motor skills. Sitting on ten beautiful acres, Forest Friends provides a great opportunity for your child to explore the outdoors and see what nature has to offer. Within a large fenced-in area, outdoor toys are provided that include: climbers, slides, swings, sandbox and sand toys, activity and water tables, riding toys, and more! I assisted my mom in our home, where she provided licensed childcare for 20 years. I babysat throughout my teen years, was a nanny for two years for a doctor with four children in Duluth, and worked as a Behavioral Therapist for Pacific Child and Family Associates for families in Itasca County, before opening Forest Friends there in September 2013. As a licensed childcare provider, I am CPR and First Aid Certified. I have completed the Sudden Unexpected Infant Death, Abusive Head Trauma, Child Passenger Restraints, Child Development and Behavior Guidance, and Supervising for Safety trainings, along with a variety of other training courses. The official Parent Aware Certificate has arrived! Over the past year, I’ve been working on re-rating by completing extra child care trainings, not related to licensing requirements. I also completed tasks inside and outside of daycare hours, to improve the quality of child care and childhood education here. Along with receiving a Three-Star Rating, I was awarded a grant to use specifically towards items that improve learning here at Forest Friends Daycare! First purchase, more shirts for our adventures!
