👀 I spy a GCPS alumni!

We love seeing our former students out in the world building careers, breaking barriers, and making an impact!

At Greene County Public Schools, our commitment to 3E — Enrolled, Enlisted, or Employed — is about more than preparing students for what comes after graduation. It’s about cultivating the Future Ready Skills they’ll carry with them wherever their path leads.

Seeing a GCPS graduate recognized for her talent, determination, and leadership in the skilled trades is exactly what Future Ready looks like in action.

The skills and experiences developed in our classrooms, CTE programs, and school community are meant to become the foundation for a lifetime of opportunity.

We are incredibly proud to see our alumni out in the world, building their futures and making their dreams a reality. 👏

On Women’s Equality Day, we’re proud to recognize the women who continue to make their mark across the skilled trades and construction industry.

Their talent, determination, and leadership help move our industry forward, and we’re proud to support the women building careers, breaking barriers, and making an impact at RBI and beyond.

Thank you for all that you bring to the work, the team, and the industry.

At Greene County Public Schools, strong communication between our schools and families is an important part of supporting student success. When a question, concern, or issue comes up, knowing where to start can help you get the information and assistance you need as quickly as possible.

We encourage families to follow our Flow of Communication:

1️⃣ Start with your child’s classroom teacher. Teachers are closest to your student’s day-to-day experience and are often the best source of information about academics, behavior, assignments, and classroom routines.
2️⃣ Contact the Assistant Principal. If your concern remains unresolved or involves student discipline, behavior, or a broader classroom issue, your school’s assistant principal is ready to help.
3️⃣ Contact the Principal. School principals can assist with concerns that require additional review, school-wide leadership, or further support at the building level.
4️⃣ Contact the Central Office. If additional assistance is needed after working through the school-level process, our division staff is available to help address remaining concerns and provide clarification or support.

Following this process helps ensure that the person closest to the situation has the first opportunity to help, often leading to quicker answers and more effective solutions. It also helps us build strong, respectful partnerships between our families, teachers, schools, and division.

🏆 Cheer Loud. Show Pride. Represent GCPS Well.

Athletic events are an exciting part of our school community, and we want every game, match, and competition to be a positive and safe experience for our students, families, staff, and visitors.

As you join us throughout the year, please help us create an atmosphere that reflects the pride of GCPS:

👏 Practice good sportsmanship – Cheer for our teams, respect officials, coaches, players, and opposing fans, and keep chants and comments positive.

🤝 Show respect – Treat visiting teams and their fans as our guests, use appropriate language, and help us take care of our facilities.

🛡️ Keep events safe – Remain in designated areas, keep aisles and walkways clear, and follow directions from event staff.

🎓 Students: Bring the energy! Stay in designated student sections and keep signs, cheers, and celebrations appropriate and positive.

🚫 Know before you go – Backpacks and bags, alcohol, tobacco/vaping products, drugs, outside food and drinks/coolers, air horns, whistles, and noisemakers are prohibited.

We love seeing our community come together to support our students. Bring the energy, bring the school spirit, and help us make every GCPS event one we can all be proud of!

📣 How Does GCPS Make Decisions About School Closings & Openings?

We know that changes to the school schedule can have a significant impact on our students, families, and staff. When circumstances arise that may affect the school day, safety is always our top priority.

GCPS works closely with local and regional partners and considers several factors before making a decision, including current conditions, predicted conditions, road conditions, and student safety.

⏰ When a change to the school schedule is necessary, our goal is to make and communicate the decision by 6:30 a.m. whenever possible.

📱 Families can expect updates through the GCPS automated alert system, division website, official social media accounts, and local news stations.

Please remember that when schools are closed, after-school activities and events are also canceled unless otherwise announced.

We understand how important timely communication is for our families. Thank you for your patience and flexibility as we work to make the safest decisions for our students and staff.

🚌 Ready, Respectful, Safe & Responsible — Every Ride, Every Day!

For many of our students, the school day begins and ends on a GCPS school bus. We want every ride to be safe, respectful, and positive for our students and drivers.
Please help us reinforce these four simple expectations at home:

🟢 Be Ready – Arrive on time, wait calmly, and line up safely.
🟢 Be Respectful – Use kind words and listen to your driver.
🟢 Be Safe – Stay seated, face forward, and keep hands and feet to yourself.
🟢 Be Responsible – Keep the bus clean and follow directions.

Our bus drivers have an important job—getting our students to and from school safely each day. Following expectations allows them to keep their attention where it belongs: on the road and the safety of everyone on board.

Thank you, GCPS families, for helping us make every bus ride a safe one!

Respectful & Safe Behavior Starts With All of Us

At Greene County Public Schools, every student deserves to learn in an environment where they feel safe, respected, and supported. While disagreements and peer conflict can happen, physical altercations, aggression, and violence are not acceptable ways to resolve those conflicts.

We want our students to know that there are better options—and adults are here to help.

When conflict happens, students are encouraged to:
🗣️ Speak with an Adult – Tell a teacher, counselor, administrator, or another trusted adult about the situation. The sooner we know there is a problem, the sooner we can help.
🤝 Request Peer Mediation – Students can ask for support in working through a conflict. A trained adult can help guide difficult conversations and keep them respectful, safe, and productive.
🚫 Request a No Contact Contract – When mediation may not be appropriate or helpful, students can request a No Contact Contract to establish clear expectations and boundaries between those involved.
📱 Report It – Students can use the STOPit App to report concerns anonymously. We also encourage students to speak directly with a trusted adult whenever they feel comfortable doing so.

Families can help by talking with students about how to respond when they are angry, frustrated, or experiencing conflict. Encourage them to walk away, seek help, report concerns, and allow trusted adults to step in before a situation escalates.

Our goal isn't simply to respond to conflict—it is to help students develop the skills to manage disagreements, make positive choices, advocate for themselves, and resolve problems safely and constructively.

Thank you for partnering with GCPS to help make our schools safe and welcoming places for everyone.
