Every school day counts! Attendance is one of the single biggest predictors of academic success, and with only 181 school days a year, every hour in the classroom matters. We ask all of our families to help prioritize regular attendance by ensuring students arrive on time and ready to learn.

To support regular attendance and streamline communication, we are updating our absence notifications through ParentSquare:

Daily Absence Alerts: Starting Monday, Aug. 31 for Grades K-8 (sent once daily) and Tuesday, Sept. 8 for High School (sent after each of the 4 block periods), parents will receive an automated notification if their student is marked with an unexcused absence.

Proactive Absence Reporting: You can now log planned absences directly in the ParentSquare app! Whether it’s an illness, medical appointment, or college visit, submitting the details through ParentSquare ensures our attendance offices can code your child's record quickly and accurately.

Thank you for partnering with us to keep our students present, engaged, and learning every day!

Beginning this school year, SPS will use ParentSquare to notify parents and guardians when their child has been marked with an unexcused absence.

When families receive an attendance notification, they can respond through ParentSquare to provide the school with information about the absence.

PowerSchool will continue to store the student's complete attendance record, including excused absences, unexcused absences, tardies, etc. Parents and guardians can view their child's complete attendance record at any time through the PowerSchool Parent Portal.

Payment for school lunches will be accepted through MySchoolBucks, a quick, secure, and convenient way to add money to your child’s lunch account. Students may also pay cash for lunch at the cafeteria each day.

Lunches are $3 for elementary students and $4 for middle and high school students.

Families will need to create or log into their MySchoolBucks account to add funds for school lunches. Families who qualify are encouraged to apply for Free or Reduced lunch by following the directions provided in this week's ParentSquare communications.
