Stamford Photography Club - Sharing Our Passion for Photography We share our passions for photography through monthly competitions and educational sessions.

The Stamford Photography Club meets at the Government Center in Stamford on the first and third Wednesdays from 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm from September through May.

Sometimes an airshow really tests our photography skills.

There is so much to take in and photograph: planes in the air, aircraft on the ground, pilots, details, abstracts, crowds, and so much more.

The light can be tough. Sometimes it is very bright and highlights blow out. Sometimes it is dark and flat. And sometimes we get lucky — the light is just right, and the clouds add the perfect finishing touch.

This image features the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress, legendary during World War II. This aircraft is Sentimental Journey, one of the very few restored B-17G bombers still flying today. This image was taken at the World War 2 Weekend in Reading, PA.

Photography offers so many different genres, and over time we each begin to settle into what pleases us most. Stay active. Keep shooting. Keep learning.

The Stamford Photography Club is kicking off another exciting season this September, and we’d love for you to be part of it! Whether you’re just starting out or have years of experience behind the lens, our community is here to inspire, share, and grow together.
From birds to beaches, cityscapes to moonrises, street photography to black-and-white classics, our members explore it all. Join us for photo walks, weekend trips, lively monthly competitions with critiques, and our always-popular Third Wednesday Lecture Series.

Who says gray skies mean no photography? One of our talented members turned a rainy day into something truly beautiful—using light, texture, and a stunning iris to create a moody, captivating image.

Rain can be the perfect opportunity to slow down, experiment, and see familiar subjects in a whole new way. Water droplets, soft light, and a bit of creativity can transform even the simplest scene.

The Stamford Photography Club is getting ready for an exciting 2026–2027 season, and now is the perfect time to get involved.

Our new competition subjects give photographers plenty to explore: nature, AI, joy, Connecticut, Ernst Haas, portraits, religion, and motion.

Plenty of room to experiment.
Plenty of room to grow.
Plenty of room to surprise the judges.

Our competitions are friendly, creative, and a great way to improve your photography. You will see how other photographers approach the same subject, hear thoughtful feedback, and leave with new ideas for your own work.

And it is not just about competition.

It is about learning.
It is about sharing.
It is about good conversation with people who love photography.
