Yesterday, club members headed into Brooklyn, cameras in hand, to capture the iconic "Tribute in Light" from the vantage points of DUMBO and Brooklyn Bridge Park.

The view across the East River was nothing short of breathtaking. Twin beams of light rose powerfully into the sky, a moving reminder of those we lost on September 11, 2001. Standing there, with the lights glowing beyond the Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan Bridges, was both humbling and emotional—many of us still carry personal memories and loss from that tragic day.
From a photographer’s standpoint, the evening was a masterclass in technique. Shooting images and panoramas in such a high dynamic range environment challenged us to balance the brightness of the bridge tower lights against the inky waters of the river and the textured rocks in the foreground. We experimented with exposures, compositions, panoramas, and blending techniques—learning how to handle such stark contrasts while still conveying the mood of the scene.
It was a night of remembrance, reflection, and growth behind the lens—an experience we will not soon forget and captured in lasting images.

From a recent Club outing to Fayerweather Island Lighthouse with incredible clear skies allowing us to catch the moon as it rose over the horizon. We are always organizing outings with interesting themes. Camaraderie is always great. It's more fun going out together.

"Tribute in Light" is a commemorative public art installation from dusk to dawn, on the night of September 11. It has become an iconic symbol that honors those killed. For those who lost acquaintances or even family members that day, this evening has a somber deep, deep meaning. The Statue of Liberty stands visually in the place of the Twin Towers showing its light for liberty and freedom, free from fear.

It's not too late! Photoshoot opportunity for you at Liberty State Park for the "Tribute In Light" 9/11 illumination. The middle yellow marker (2) is probably the best first spot to park. Ask around and you will meet Stamford Photography Club members.

Tis the season for Balloon Festivals and Country Fairs. Get your camera and venture into these environments rich with opportunities to take interesting images.
At this Hudson Valley Balloon Festival organizers had aligned several balloons in a row and asked the pilots to light them up in sync with music. They called it balloon glow. Afterwards the evening ended with fireworks.
Whether you go alone or with a group of photographers there are plenty of rich opportunities this fall.

Summer's end is approaching fast and with it the begin of our clubs 24-25 season. We kick off the season with our "What I Did Last Summer" musical slide show where members submit their images about exiting happenings during the last three months. Very importantly, it is the opportunity to meet again in person, tell stories, and plan ahead.

YOU are invited to join us too as a non-member during this evening. It is our opportunity to meet you and your opportunity to get to know Fairfield Counties' most active and vibrant photography club. We are exited to meet you!

We meet on Wednesday, September 4th 7pm at the Stamford Senior Center, 888 Washington Blvd 2nd floor. There is ample free parking in the building.

A few friends from our club ventured to Northern Vermont this last weekend to take images at the iconic AM Foster covered bridge. We were going for sunset, , and . The photoshoot did not disappoint. In addition we were treated with the show later that night. More images to follow.
