We're thrilled to welcome Shabnam Abedi to The Alon Music School!

A multi-genre vocalist, composer/arranger, and educator, Shabnam Abedi is known for her beautiful tone and “lovely warmth” (NY Times). Her debut jazz album, Love Shadows, was released last year. She is a founding member of Voces8 Foundation’s treble ensemble Lyyra and made her stamp in the choral world with her arrangement “Jhoro Jhoro”. She sings with premier vocal ensembles like the New York Philharmonic Chorus, New York Vocal Collective, Yale Choral Artists, and many more.

She studied classical voice and music education at Mason Gross School of the Arts and jazz at The Juilliard School, becoming Juilliard’s first South-Asian American jazz voice graduate, and currently studies business at Indiana University. Having sung Indian classical music from a young age, her first album “Amar Bijon Ghore” is praised widely in South Asia. She performs from Jazz at Lincoln Center to Carnegie Hall.

Vocalista de múltiples géneros, compositora/arreglista y educadora, Shabnam Abedi es reconocida por su hermoso tono y su “encantadora calidez” (The New York Times). We are pleased to announce the appointment of Samuel You to INTEMPO's Board of Directors! 📣

Samuel You is a Technical Program Manager at Amazon.com in New York, where his work focuses on AI infrastructure initiatives. At Amazon, he founded a program that provides students from public schools in the Bronx with opportunities to participate in workshops at Amazon’s offices in Manhattan. Sam holds a BS in Data Science, with minors in History and Music, from the University of Michigan.

Though Sam’s professional life is focused on AI, his passion is music. He plays viola and is a member of the UNSRC Symphony Orchestra. He will also volunteer as a viola instructor at INTEMPO this fall.

Sam will serve on the Development Committee, focusing on increasing support from young donors.

Please join us in giving Sam a warm welcome!

¡Nos complace anunciar el nombramiento de Samuel You como miembro de la Junta Directiva de INTEMPO! 📣

Samuel You es Gerente de Programas Técnicos en Amazon, en Nueva York, donde su trabajo se centra en iniciativas de infraestructura de inteligencia artificial (IA). En Amazon, fundó un programa que brinda a estudiantes de escuelas públicas del Bronx la oportunidad de participar en talleres en las oficinas de Amazon en Manhattan. Sam tiene una licenciatura en Ciencia de Datos, con especializaciones secundarias en Historia y Música, de la Universidad de Michigan.

Aunque su vida profesional está enfocada en la IA, su pasión es la música. Toca la viola y es miembro de la Orquesta Sinfónica de las Naciones Unidas. Este otoño, también colaborará como voluntario en INTEMPO, donde impartirá clases de viola.

Thank you so much Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens for an amazing field trip! 🌳🌿🌰

Our students loved building their bamboo instruments, decorating them, and exploring the beautiful plant life at Bartlett. We had so much fun and can’t wait to come back next year!

INTEMPO and The Norwalk Art Space are excited to announce that registration is now officially open for The Alon Music School, a new tuition-free, year-round music school that will provide high-quality music education to children throughout Norwalk beginning in September 2026. Elementary, middle, and high school students with varying levels of musical experience are welcome.
