Not enough words to describe how my heart feels. Julia A Stark School, the place where We made friendships that we didn’t realize would last a lifetime. The place where your ‘first friends’ would be with you your whole life. The streets in Glenbrook gave me friends I truly cherish. Dana Sansone, Amanda Brown and me. And yes, I’m holding our 6th grade class picture. Yun nub, echop yub nub….
Even though we haven’t seen each other in 20-30 years, we know this will be a yearly reunion.
Our dear classmate Kenny Bennett passed away. He put up the fight for cancer a few times. He was gods son and had a strong faith. and also a veteran. He was a tough man. I’ve been blessed to know him since elementary school and I am so blessed to have reconnected in the past years. My dear friend - May he rest in love. my heart is so broken. About 45 years of knowing Kenny.
May we all remember him from whenever he entered our life.

I just have to say. In this absolutely crazy world - and those classmates that came to shs - our 30th well…31st reunion being in October. I often think back to memories to school. My favorite memories are from Stark - the simple Things in life like being a safety patrol. Climbing that monkey bar thing - which never gave me a fear of heights. If we fell - we fell. Wiped off the dirt and climbed back up. Being yelled at for swinging on the swings on our stomachs because “we could get hurt” - seriously ? Did the teachers think that spinning thing was safer than the swing ? Hahaha and how about when we were old enough and strong enough to do underdog on the swings. Field day and using the hippity hops ! Red rover, dodgeball, pizza fridays. That little carton of milk. The water fountain by the nurses office being the coldest. Awards assemblies. Remember when D.A.R.E. Started coming to talk to us at school about drugs? Remember ordering books thru scholastic. Mr Campbell in art class putting plaster strips on our face then waiting for it to dry then spray painting it like a silver mask of our face. Playing the recorder. Learning multiplication. We saw And used the very first computer in 4th grade. Climbing ropes in gym. And my favorite - doing the dances in gym. Which basically was the electric slide without it being the electric slide. We learned country dances and did the ‘do-si-do’ with out partners. Did the 70’s music dancing.
I appreciate all of that. Our childhood and who we are and our memories stem from every single thing. May it be little or big. Kids these days don’t even learn script handwriting. All of these memories is what life is about. We switched classes in 6th grade to prepare us for middle school.
For those that talk to me. You know I always say my Stark friends are my fave because it molded me to form the best friendships.
Singing in choir and having concerts. Yes. The Ewok song.
At almost turning 50, I can barely remember last week but these memories are vivid in my memory. Like rolling down the hill by the playground in the log roll. Going home with dirty jeans and knees meant we played. We lived. We learned.
I love you all And thank you for being the BEST memories of my life. My growing up. My dearest friends.
I hope you have the same memories.
Thank you for it all.
