Annual Conference - Society of Vineyard Scholars 09/30/2022

https://vineyardscholars.org/annual-conference/

WE ARE SO EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE THAT REGISTRATION FOR THE TWELFTH ANNUAL SOCIETY OF VINEYARD SCHOLARS CONFERENCE IS NOW OPEN!

This year we will be experimenting with a different conference form, one that allows us to spend more time in dialogue and community with one another. As such, each session will run for two hours, and be focused on a single plenary talk / panel, followed by comments from a respondent. After the respondent's comments, we will break up into small groups for a time of discussion among all in attendance about questions raised by the panels. Finally we will reconvene to share briefly what was discussed.

Plenary participants already scheduled include Lucy Peppiatt, Mark Young, Han-Luen Kantzer Komline, Julian Davis Reid, Jack Levison, Brittany Kim, Ben Blackwell, Caleb Maskell, and more...with several more to come...

Died: Ron Sider, Evangelical Who Pushed for Social Action 07/28/2022

Ron Sider (1939-2022) was one of the first plenary speakers at the first Society of Vineyard Scholars meeting in 2010, coming to us at Bert Waggoner's wise invitation.

A Canadian evangelical pietist who spoke prophetically to the church in the United States, Ron was a powerful and consistent witness to the Kingdom come and coming...he held tensions faithfully and he did so with joy.

He spoke to us about why he was not a social activist, but rather, simply, a Christian...Jesus, he explained, was his agenda. He ended his talk with a song: "Jesus, you're the center of my joy..."

Thank you, Jesus, for the witness of your servant Ron.
