SMS Zone for grades 6-8 begins Monday, Aug 17, at 3:20 -5:30 pm. We meet Afterschool every full school day beginning with a snack, check-in, and study hall until 3:50 pm when students are dismissed for sports practices or other activities like cooking, esports, games or WILD. They can choose their classes or create their own. Come be part of the ZONE.

🌞 Our SMS Adventure Awaits Summer Camp wrapped up in one of our favorite places — Stafford Lake! We enjoyed roasting hot dogs, playing in the water, and spending a beautiful day with friends while making great summer memories.

A huge thank you to all of our parents and families for encouraging your middle school students to be part of our summer adventures. This group was truly awesome!

When we have such a great group and so much fun together, it makes us wish we could keep camp going all summer long! But we know these kids have many more summer adventures ahead, with projects, activities, vacations, and time spent with friends and family.

Thank you for making this summer one to remember. Enjoy the rest of your summer break, stay safe, and before we know it, it will be time to head back to school. We’ll see y’all soon! ☀️🚐🌊🌭💙📚

As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of America, children (K-8) are invited to join the Second Lady's 2026 Summer Reading Challenge. Participants will read and track 12 books of their choice between June 1 and September 4. When your 12 books are finished, a form is submitted to receive a certificate, an America 250 bookmark, and a prize. You will also be entered for a chance to visit our nation's capital and the White House!! We are sending home information about this challenge!

After spending a day at home yesterday filled with a talent show, a lip-sync battle 🎤, and plenty of games, we were back on the road 🚐 and headed west today!

Our morning was spent exploring the 🤠 Boot Hill Museum, where students learned about Kansas history and experienced what life was like in the Old West. After lunch, it was time to cool off and have some fun at the 🌊 Long Branch Lagoon. The water, sunshine, and laughter made for a perfect afternoon! 😎

When asked about the day, many of the kids agreed—it was their favorite Adventure Club trip yet! We’re making memories, learning along the way, and having a blast together. ☀️🚐🎉

Yesterday was a day of fun and learning. First, we took in the special exhibit “Finding Titanic: The Secret Mission” learning all about the technology needed to explore this underwater treasure and all the fun hands-on educational exhibits. Then, it was time to enjoy the sun and the beautiful day at the Rock River Rapids in Derby.

Over the last two days, we were fortunate to welcome Officer Cole back for the second year to present, educate, and provide our students with a hands-on opportunity to solve a mock crime scene. The students had a great time learning about investigative techniques, gathering evidence, and working together to piece together clues.

Our school and community are truly blessed to have a police force and city that are so dedicated to giving back and investing in our youth. Thank you, Officer Cole, for sharing your time, knowledge, and passion with our students. Experiences like these create lasting memories and inspire curiosity, teamwork, and learning. We appreciate all you do for our community! 🚔🔍🕵️‍♂️🕵️‍♀️

Today our SMS Adventure Awaits Club explored the rich history of Wilson, Kansas, during a stop in the city before heading to Wilson Lake for lunch and swimming.

Students learned about Wilson’s Czech heritage, historic downtown, and the community’s connection to nearby Wilson Lake. Earlier in the day, the group also visited the Lincoln Waterfall in Lincoln, Kansas. Everyone enjoyed a fun day in the sun and said they had a great time and can’t wait to visit again!

SMS Adventure Awaits Club teamed up with SHS for an awesome lake day adventure! ☀️🌊 Students spent the day kayaking, fishing, swimming, and exploring around the lake while making memories together. It was the perfect way to enjoy the sunshine, build friendships, and kick off summer fun! 🛶🎣🏊
