Trans Awareness Week is the week prior to Trans Day of Remembrance! This \week we are sending out emails about the history of Transgender Expression and highlighting the frontrunners of gender non-conforming/ transgender individuals. Today we celebrate Chevalier D’Eon :
Born in 1728, Chevalier D’Eon was a french spy, diplomat, and soldier in the 7 Years war and for most of her life she appeared in public as a man and occupied predominantly male occupations. However in 1777, She appeared in Empress Elizabeth of Russia’s court claiming to have been assigned female at birth and dressed in female clothing. For the next 33 years of her life she dressed as a woman. After her death the coroner’s identified that she had male anatomy that was “Perfectly formed in every respect.”

Transgender Day of Visibility is this Friday (3/31)! Transgender Day of Visibility is a day of celebration, empowerment, and recognition of the transgender community. We will be tabling on the campus center patio from 12-2:30 on Friday to hand out buttons, pride stickers, and pronoun stickers, as well as educational resources and information on how to directly aid the transgender community in the fight against transphobia and oppression. All are welcome and invited to come show their support!
