Congrats to Casper Kinzie, an English SMPer who opened their original exhibition, “Museums & Literature: Preventing Memory from Falling Out of the World,” at the SMCM Library! This immersive exhibition is based on Antony Doerr’s novel *All the Light We Cannot See* and will be on display for the next two weeks!

A big congrats to Professor Jerry Gabriel whose brand-new novel, *The Deserters*, will be released in May by Acre Books!

*The Deserters* is an historical adventure story set during the American Civil War, following a Union soldier who deserts to find his sons and is joined by an orphan girl, with the group pursued by a detective as they journey west, eventually ending up in Chicago. The novel alternates perspectives, blending adventure with psychological depth.

Are you looking to expand your writing practice, build a creative community, and refine your work in a week-long workshop with other dedicated writers all while spending time on our gorgeous St. Mary’s campus?

Join us June 21- 27th for the 13th Annual Chesapeake Writers’ Conference! The Chesapeake Writers’ Conference gathers writers of all levels to the St. Mary’s College of Maryland campus for a dynamic week of intensive workshops, craft talks, and readings. Throughout the week there will be opportunities to participate in off-campus excursions, waterfront social time, one-on-one meetings with publishing professionals, and a participant reading! This year we are offering workshops in Fiction, Poetry, Creative-Nonfiction (CNF), including a special CNF workshop on Food Essays.
