We wanted to remind everyone that costumes ≠ consent. Period.

Everyone deserves to be able to express themselves and their sexuality through their clothes, including seasonal costumes, without fear of being sexually assaulted.

This weekend, remember to respect and honor your peers by getting enthusiastic, affirmative consent before any sexual activity.

Consent:
✔️Want to ______?
✔️I want to ______. Are you feeling up for that?
✔️How do you feel about doing ______? It's okay if you want to wait!

Not Consent:
❌Costumes
❌Clothes
❌Intoxication
❌Past Sexual History

Swipe ➡️ for spooky season safety tips 🎃. It's on all of us to keep our community safe, so be sure to socialize safely and responsibly this weekend.

As a reminder, Halloween is a high risk time for sexual assaults to be perpetrated on U.S. college campuses, and it's crucial that we stay vigilant as active bystanders. Be prepared to confront your friends - not just strangers - about their worrisome behavior. Regardless of the intervention strategy you may choose, your intervention has life changing impacts!

Help us keep our community safe by being an active bystander and following the College's COVID guidelines this weekend!

We're coming to the end of our Healthy Relationship Student Leader Campaign! As we wrap up, we hope that you take these key insights with you as you nurture your own relationships. Don't forget: the skills our student leaders have talked about apply to romantic, sexual, and platonic relationships as well as the relationships we have with our family and friends. We all have room to grow, and it's important to remember that these skills take practice. We hope you continue to practice and hone these skills during your time at the College and beyond!

To bring us home, Emily, a PHE and student leader extraordinaire, shares about the role mutual respect and compromise play in a healthy relationship.

"To me, a healthy relationship involves consistent and healthy communication. Healthy relationships involve mutual respect between partners and an effort to compromise from both sides of the relationship. "

We've said it before, and we'll say it again: communication is such an important factor in a healthy relationship. Don't take it from us - learn more from Liam who breaks down how communication helps you form closer, more trusting relationships.

“This is cliché but I think communication and talking is important to any relationship. Talking about not only how your significant other or friend feels but how you feel can bring you closer to other people. And it’s never as awkward as you think it’ll be.”

"To me, a healthy relationship means using clear communication and being supportive through tough times. By talking things out, both the good and bad, you form a strong sense of trust. This way the relationship is not just built on love but on respect, honesty, and friendship."
