Nearly Everyone With Mild Cognitive Impairment Goes Undiagnosed 11/16/2023

Here is an interesting article on the extremely high occurrence of undiagnosed mild cognitive impairment (MCI). The Rapid Geriatric Assessment (RGA) is a screening tool developed by the Geriatrics Division of Saint Louis University and the Gateway Geriatric Education Center. The RGA includes an assessment of frailty, nutrition, loss of muscle mass (sarcopenia), and cognitive function. The cognitive function component of the RGA helps identify MCI. Nearly Everyone With Mild Cognitive Impairment Goes Undiagnosed Millions of older adults likely have minor memory issues that can later become dementia. But only a fraction of them are diagnosed early enough for new treatments to stand a chance.
