Meet Julie Wang, our Fellow Spotlight of the week! Julie is a rising junior majoring in Marketing with minors in Design and Human-Computer Interaction. She is currently a Strategy Fellow and has served as Director of Strategy in the past. This summer, she is working as a Marketing Associate at Mindgrub, a tech/design agency and consultancy based in Baltimore.

What are some of your favorite experiences that you've had through Bear Studios?
"I loved working on the focus groups and user surveys for the Harvey Media Center! I had the amazing opportunity to work with two other amazing fellows (shoutout Sophie and Brock) on gauging student feedback for a new WashU website and analyzing those results to provide HMC with a set of actionable steps on how to improve their site design."

What are some of your favorite experiences that you've had through Bear Studios?
"I joined Bear Studios my freshman year, and it is been one of the most growth-inspiring experiences of my college career. The people I have met have been unbelievably admirable. One of my favorite experiences with Bear Studios was when we threw a Happy Hour at TechArtista, a co-working space in St. Louis, to market our services a couple of years ago. We were able to engage with entrepreneurs, get to know one another better within the Bear Studios community, and, of course, enjoy some delicious samosas."

Who is someone you've met through Bear Studios that has had an impact on you?
"One of the former Executive Directors, Jacob, has been a great mentor. We had the chance to work on a project together and he has been a helpful professional resource for me, especially since we have similar academic interests."

“Personally, communication in a professional setting was always daunting to me. I was nervous before I sent out any email, no matter how simple it might be. Through Bear Studios, I've gotten more experience talking and writing to different types of people. I am now much more comfortable cold calling and emailing. This confidence allows me to be more candid when I have questions or problems, which reduces confusion and time in the long run for all my projects.“
