Mitrata Nepal We educate & empower 120+ underprivileged children to reach their full potential as citizens of Nepal

At Mitrata-Nepal Foundation for Children (MNFC), it's our mission to educate and empower severely underprivileged children to reach their full potential as citizens of Nepal. We strive to maximally impact the lives of these children who in turn contribute to their community. We provide individualized education, housing, healthcare, early childhood development and support services such as nutrition

/hygiene, counseling, empowerment programs, scholarships and career development alongside our partner organization in Nepal. "A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove...but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child."

We are thrilled to have our partners from Bhuvaneshwori Satyal Foundation (BSF) visiting for 2 weeks at the end of August. Their Executive Director, Leena, and Board President, Yogesh, will be spending time connecting with our sponsors, be a resource to us during our Strategic Planning meeting, participate in our newest event Pic-N-Pickle, and of course spend lots of time outdoors hiking and biking. We are anxiously looking forward to their arrival.

The team at BSF has been making impressive progress this summer, focusing on expanding educational opportunities for teachers and staff to enhance their support for students.

During their summer educational series, educators from the Contact Centers dedicated a day to deepening their knowledge of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), effective classroom management techniques, co-regulation methods, and social-emotional as well as socio-cultural learning.

Together, they examined practical and restorative methods aimed at cultivating safe and supportive environments, ensuring every child has the opportunity for positive experiences.

Integrating trauma-informed practices lays the foundation for enhanced mental well-being, improved relationships, greater learning outcomes, healthier decision-making, and more favorable life experiences.

For the last six years, participants in Miles for Mitrata Kids have actively engaged in supporting the needs of children in Nepal. As we embark on our final year of M4MK, we aim to raise $36,000 to enable 38 students to take part in a unique educational excursion, regardless of their families' financial circumstances. This journey will take them beyond Kathmandu, immersing them in the rich culture, environment, and heritage of Nepal, while also fostering essential teamwork and group skills.

The proceeds from M4MK 2026 will provide these young individuals with an unparalleled opportunity. The money raised will be allocated to cover transportation, accommodations, meals for both students and staff, and will facilitate learning experiences that broaden their perspectives and enhance their self-esteem.
