CONSISTENCY: There is no amount of practicing in one day that will help as much as working daily on your instrument. Anything that you do should take be a part of your daily lifestyle. Now, of course, it's ok to miss a day, but the best thing to do, is to suck it up and make time. Consistency allows you to always show up for YOU and NEVER feel guilty about missing a day of practice. Consistency also always for the most progress so that your instructor can develop your skills further.

REPETITION: Practice less material, but spend more time on it. The death of a musician is when you only practice the piece from start to finish, over and over again. Depending on your level of playing will dictate how much material to practice at a time. Be mindful of your focus level, when you get fatigued and stop paying attention to detail. For example, I might tell a beginner student to practice 2 of the 4 phrases of the study piece, for 30 min. The amount of times one will play those two phrases in one day is much higher than if you just go over it five times. It is hard for humans to repeat things. If you are a person who can repeat, bless your brain! But for most, repetition is boring and not fun. However, it is how you do the repetition that keeps the brain and body engaged in the activity.

FOCUSED PRACTICE: Be mindful of your focus level when practicing. If you start to fatigue or stop paying attention to detail, that is a sign that you are: 1. dehydrated. 2. need a break. 3. your subconscious can not accept any more information for the day regarding your instrument. You can get way more done well when focusing properly than spending hours on your material in the wrong way.

DISCIPLINE: Discipline is what people makes better quality humans. Discipline is where your grit and strength and determination live. It is needed if one wants to succeed at something during their lifetime. Don't let lack of discipline stop you from following your dreams.

MAKE IT INTERESTING: Make practice interesting by doing different things each day. Never practice the same thing twice in the same way. (I will talk more about this in another post.) Keeping the mind stimulated is more important than getting through everything each day. Trust that you know the material practiced from yesterday and move forward working on something new.

ORGANIZE: Make a plan! Pick a day and organize your week. Goals are met when we are held accountable. Find a buddy or go solo! But, stay clean, work hard, and know what you are accomplishing. This way, you create a positive mental space, as opposed to a negative/giving up space.

BRAIN AND MUSCLE CONFUSION: Similar to when we exercise, one should not do the same activity every day for the same amount of time. Practicing an instrument is the same way. Our subconscious and body need time to accept the new information we just created, drilling it over and over doesn't make it go in any faster. Practice short amounts of time, different times of the day and always change up the way in which you practice the desired material.

Topics I'm interested in: Philosophy, Animals, Spirituality, Peloton, Others Opinions.
Best qualities: Patient, Open-Minded, Strong, Consistent, and Dedicated to Growth and a Focused Lifestyle.

Being a teacher has brought me great joys, but one of the best is realizing that you must practice what you preach. Therefore, I practice, workout, and eat balanced, nutritious meals daily. Everyday is a chance to expand your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual self.

Something that I live by, because I feel it in my soul, and for me, it is the honest truth: You need nothing to prove your worth or identity. Your soul is already whole. This human experience is a chance to explore all things that feel right for you. If that's pursuing a musical instrument, then great! You're in the right place. If you need a tribe of open-minded, non-judgmental, growth minded people, stick around! If you like something completely different than what I like, TELL ME. Maybe I can support you in following your dream.

PLEASE, honor who you are. DO only what makes you shine inside. EGO is the human construct to keep you staying small. SPIRIT is the only answer.
It's time to start living for YOU. Not what society deems important. ALL ideas are good. ALL ideas should be explored. LEAVE no rock unturned.

STEP INTO YOUR LIGHT, your tribe will support you. ⚡️

One last thing: Nothing is that serious, but all things should be lived totally. 🤔

Leave me a comment with your dreams! 🤍
