THRIVING THURSDAY 💜

Recently, I've been talking about healthy hair. Healthy hair is so important to understand; however, the question still remains...

Is your hair healthy?

I'll give you an example using my own hair.

When I moved from Missouri to Texas, one of the things I noticed almost immediately was that the hydration in my hair did not feel the same.

I've been working with my hair and paying attention to those changes. But does having dehydrated hair automatically mean my hair isn't healthy?

No.

It means I have to understand WHY my hair is becoming dehydrated and what I may need to adjust in my hair care.

When moving to a different state, one of the things we may not think about is the environment. Climate, humidity, water and other elements can play a part in how our hair feels, responds to products and even how long our styles last.

That's part of understanding your hair story.

My hair didn't suddenly become "bad" because I moved to Texas. My environment changed, and now I'm learning what my hair requires in this environment.

Hair care starts with you. 💜

Have you ever noticed your hair behaving differently after moving or traveling somewhere new?

WATER WEDNESDAY 💧

Let's talk about the quiet things out loud...

How do you know your hair is healthy?

Not how long it is.
Not how good the style looks.
Not how much it grows.

How do YOU determine whether your hair is actually healthy?

Let's have a conversation. 💜

Color-treated hair deserves extra care. 💜

Hydration and moisture go hand in hand, especially during the detangling process.

Take your time, pay attention to your hair, and remember hair care starts with you. 💜

THE COLOR OF IT ALL • HAIR TIP TUESDAY
When is the proper age to introduce color into your child’s hair?

For me, there wasn’t one specific age, it was a progression.

I first introduced color into Maliyah’s hair when she was around 8 years old through her braiding hair. We started with purple and red, and from there, color became a part of her hairstyles. 💜❤️

Whenever I braided her hair, we could play with two colors, add little pops throughout the style, or let the bulk of the ponytail be the color.

When she was around 13, we started experimenting with color in her natural hair. We began small with a few streaks behind her ear. This also gave me the opportunity to make sure she didn’t have a reaction before doing more.
As she moved further into her teenage years, we experimented more. We played with blocks of color, then eventually moved closer to the roots. By high school, we were doing much more with her color.

Now she’s 19 and definitely a COLOR GIRL. 🤣💜
Hair care starts with you.

If you desire to experiment with hair color, remember that your hair deserves additional care along the way. Hydration and moisture go hand in hand, especially when chemical services become part of your hair story.

Color can be fun. Color can be expressive. But caring for the hair underneath it all still matters.

At what age did you first experiment with hair color?

HAIR TIP TUESDAY

There’s one thing that’s really important when it comes to heat and chemical services: being honest about your hair story.

This is a great opportunity to learn more about your hair story by taking just 15 minutes of your time to go through the complimentary consultation form.

Hair care starts with you. 💜 However, sometimes we desire a different look for ourselves, and with that desire can come impatience because we can’t wait to see the finished results.

But understanding your hair is something totally different.

When heat or chemical damage happens, who do you blame?

The person who did your hair?

Or do you take the time to reflect on the history of your hair and everything that may have contributed to where your hair is today?

Your hair story matters.
Take 15 minutes to learn a little more about yours.

Throwback Thursday 💜

Okayyyy, young Monica!!!

Hydration. Moisture. Hair CARE.

Looking back at old pictures of my hair reminds me that I've been learning my hair long before I started having these conversations professionally.

Healthy-looking hair doesn't always have to mean a perfectly defined curl or a finished hairstyle.

Sometimes, let the hair be the hair. 💜
