A New Chapter of Leadership ❤️

On the Feast of St. Dominic, we celebrated our Transfer of Leadership and welcomed our 2026–2030 Leadership Team.

With grateful hearts, we honor the Sisters who served in leadership from 2022–2026 and welcome those who will guide us in the years ahead.

As we continue to be “Rooted in History. Facing Forward in Hope,” we trust in God’s guidance and look forward to all that lies ahead.

🎉 “Keep Calm… You’re Only 90!” 🎉

One of the birthday cards I received said, “Keep Calm… You’re Only 90!” And so I am! 😊

I feel blessed by God’s love, within and without. I am deeply grateful for my beautiful family, community, friends, and all of creation. You are in my prayers.

With love,

This August 6 marks 81 years since the United States dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, killing hundreds of thousands of people and leaving a legacy of suffering that endures to this day. Yet the threat of nuclear weapons has not diminished: more than 12,000 nuclear warheads remain in the world's arsenals.

In response, we invite you to join the annual Hiroshima Nagasaki Prayer Service, a free, virtual gathering open to all. This year's theme, "From Remembrance to Abolition," calls us to honor the lives lost while renewing our commitment to a nuclear-free world. Thirty-six congregations of women religious (including Sparkill Dominicans) and peace organizations are co-sponsoring this growing witness of faith and peace.

“I’m not quite ready to ride again, but I’m looking forward to walking our beautiful grounds, playing some fun games, and, most of all, seeing everyone at Cycle for Peace! And, of course, I’m looking forward to the goodies—hot dogs, ice cream, and nachos. With all that tempting me, it’s probably a good thing I’ll be walking!

Thank you to everyone who participates in and supports Cycle for Peace. Your generosity helps sustain the mission of the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill, and I’m so grateful!”

Who is Mary Magdalene?

On this Feast of St. Mary Magdalene, patroness of the Dominican Order, we invite you to read a beautiful reflection from Sr. Margaret Palliser that explores her extraordinary witness as the first preacher of Christ's Resurrection—the "Apostle to the Apostles."

Take a few moments to reflect on the life of this remarkable disciple and discover how her witness continues to inspire us to be preachers of hope in our world today.

St. Mary Magdalene, Tower of Faith and Witness, pray for us!

Our Albertus Magnus High School students are bringing Christ's love to life through their outreach to those living in poverty this summer. Their compassion, generosity, and willingness to serve remind us of the words often attributed to St. Teresa of Ávila: "Christ has no body now on earth but yours."

By becoming Christ's hands, feet, and heart in the world, these young people are making a real difference—one act of kindness, one encounter, and one person at a time. Thank you for witnessing the Gospel in action.

AM students participated in a summer outreach week with Capuchin Family Ministries this June, living out their faith by ministering to vulnerable communities around the Hudson Valley. Throughout the week, they dedicated their time to serving the poor, the elderly, and the homeless. We are proud of these students for making a difference - Colin Cahill ‘27, Aedan Finn ‘27, Grace Gavigan ‘27, Soraya Miller ‘27, and alumna Lilly Mercado ‘23. Lead, Serve, Inspire!
