Congratulations to Dr. Tracy Russell, who today successfully defended her dissertation, “The Betrothed of Christ: A Study of the Nuptial Metaphor in Late Ancient Syriac Virgin Martyr Narratives.” Well done, Dr. Russell!

Congratulations to Dr. Chelsea Trotter on the successful defense of her doctoral dissertation!

Passing with distinction, “The Devil Beyond the Bible” is a study of the various textual references to the devil in 4th-century Christianity and argues that this diversity challenges assumptions about the uniformity of early Christian understandings.

The RFP for Lived Religion in the Digital Age App Development and Pilot Grants is LIVE! Multiple awards of $2,500-$10,000 will be made.

Lived Religion in the Digital Age is directed by DTS professors Dr. Rachel McBride Lindsey and Dr. Pauline C. Lee. Funding for these awards is through a generous grant from the Henry Luce Foundation and support from Saint Louis University.

🎓🎓Congratulations to the 2023 graduates of Saint Louis University! The department graduated several majors, minors, and masters students and hooded two doctoral candidates this week. What a joy to celebrate these scholars in their many and important achievements.

As we heard in precommencement, “may many doors open before you and may you open doors for others in all that you do!”🎓🎓

This week Women in Theology toasted the end of the semester and celebrated major accomplishments, from finished dissertations to first books to new jobs and new titles—not to mention all the things this group has achieved outside of their lives as scholars of religion and theology!

Congratulations to post-doc Dr. April Mack on her new appointment at Iliff School of Theology! Dr. Mack has taught hundreds of students during her three years at Saint Louis University and will be deeply missed as she moves into this exciting new role.
