Optimist's East Missouri District

This past weekend was a busy one for Optimist Clubs in our District. Gary Joe Hatfield attended the Marble Hill Optimist Club fun event called Pitch Hit & Run and which had a great turnout. President B J Braswell is shown gathering everyone for the awards ceremony, and the “Coach” on the field is club member Josh Freiheit. I also met Secretary Karen Malendy and Treasurer Lottie Johnson and several other dedicated volunteers. The winners can move on to a bigger competition at Busch Stadium! FANTASTIC JOB AND CLUB! Come show off your baseball and softball skills.

The Pitch, Hit & Run program is a free event series for boys and girls, and consists of a series of movements that are important in baseball and softball. Participants will compete in either 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, or 13-14 age division, with the Age Cut-off set on November 15, 2026. They will be tested, and their measurements will be recorded for points. Based on their scores, they will advance from a Local Event to a Team Championship and then to the Finals hosted at the World Series.
