In OT practice for Children and Youth, the PYI’s completed fine motor screenings for all the kindergartners at City Garden Montessori School. Children identified with fine motor delays will be offered RTI services. It was fun for both OT students and kindergartners!

Learning theoretical perspectives can be fun! PY1 students brought theoretical model Person-Environment-Occupation to life as they became the circle constructs of the model. Before wrapping up, students transitioned from participation in education to participation in play with a quick round of jump rope.

Wendy Stav joined hundreds of occupational therapy practitioners, students, and academicians from around the country to participate in the AOTA Hill Day event on Sept 24. She maintained a full schedule, meeting with six legislators and their staff in both the House and Senate. Her meetings included advocacy to Senator Josh Hawley (MO), Senator Eric Schmitt (MO), Representative Ann Wagner (MO), Representative Eric Burlison (MO), Senator Mitch McConnell (KY), and Representative Brett Guthrie (KY). Advocacy efforts were focused on HB-2013 and the RECOVER Act, both of which will expand and ease access to occupational therapy services under Medicare.

Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy students and faculty took full advantage of SLU’s Wellness Day in a kickball tournament. PY1 students were victorious, but everyone enjoyed the opportunity to step away from the academic obligations and focus on well-being.

Today the PY1 students celebrated the transition to the MOT curriculum in a bridging ceremony. They were joined by faculty, family, and friends as they ascended to the next level of education on their journey toward becoming occupational therapists.

It was Early Intervention Day in pediatrics! Our PYII students had the opportunity to interview and assess little ones ages zero to three…we so appreciate our alums and SLU faculty sharing their children and grandchildren to enhance graduate student learning. It is particularly fun to have kids come from year to year to watch them grow! Check out the pics of some of our littles going from infant to almost preschool!
