We had a blast celebrating and learning about Johnny Appleseed day today!

We:
🍎 followed directions to make our own applesauce
🍏 wrote about the Apple of our Eye(s)
🍎polled the class and graphed our favorite apples and apple treats
🍏did science experiments about the 5 senses of apples and tested to see if they would sink or float
🍎used adjectives to describe apples
🍏read about Johnny Appleseed and used our knowledge of a 5 finger retell to talk about his life

Such a fun and learning filled day, ask your child what their favorite part of today was!

On Friday we celebrated our local heros, with an outdoor assembly honoring first responders. We talked about 9/11 as a class and remembered the bravery shown that day. To end the day, we read September 12th and collaborated to make an American flag together as a class.

A Friday full of team builders!

First, students had a sticker placed on their forehead and they had to find their matching sticker colors without talking. Next, our class lined up in height order, again without talking!

We then had a lesson on the impact of our words and actions. Students were each given a tube of toothpaste and were instructed to squeeze it all out of the tube. The look of confusion on their faces when I gave them toothpicks and told them to put the toothpaste back in 😂 we had a great discussion about our words and actions, like the toothpaste, can easily squeeze out. They cannot be taken back so easily.

Finally, our table teams completed a puzzle together. The catch? Only one person could touch the puzzle, but this person had to have their eyes closed.

We had grit and completed all of our activities while growing stronger and closer as a class!
