Our Saint Cecilia’s students planted these greens in early May, as a community service project. Since then, the VAL community garden has donated 131.75 lbs of harvested greens to our neighbors in need. May God bless all our amazing neighbors who volunteer at this wonderful garden, —and all our neighbors who will enjoy the fruits of the harvest!

Juneteenth marks the day that enslaved Black people in Texas finally learned they were free, more than two years after emancipation had been declared. It is a celebration of Black freedom. It is also a reminder that rights on paper mean very little if there is no power to defend them.
In honor of Juneteenth, St. Cecilia School is closed today.
