Gateway Atelier of Classical Art
Gateway Atelier of Classical Art was founded to offer St. Louis and the Midwest the highest level of art instruction in the St. Louis area
Gateway Atelier is a formal, four-year program rooted in direct observation and the traditions of classical realism.
We have regular classes, dedicated faculty, and a growing body of students committed to the daily work of drawing, painting, and sculpture — whether through full-time study, part-time commitment, or individual classes that connect into the broader life of the studio.

We tend to think that what we are making is the most important thing in our lives and that it is going to define us for all eternity. Consider moving forward with a more accurate point of view. It’s a small work, a beginning.
The mission is to complete the project so you can move onto the next. That next one is a stepping stone to the following work. And so it continues in productive rhythm for the entirety of your creative life.
— Rick Rubin, “A Way of Being”
