One of the things I love most about education is that there's always more to learn.
Many students I support for ADHD and executive functioning challenges also have dyslexia, dysgraphia, or dyscalculia. While these diagnoses often coexist, they aren't always addressed together, even though they influence one another every day.
I had a solid foundation in literacy instruction but wanted more specialized training to better support students whose challenges extend beyond executive functioning alone.
I'm excited to share I've completed Keys to Literacy's "Keys to Beginning Reading" training program. This evidence-based professional development strengthened my understanding of early literacy, structured reading instruction, dyslexia, and assessment while reinforcing the connection between literacy skills and executive functioning.
Every new certification or training isn't just another line on a résumé to me. It's another way to better understand my students and provide them with the support they deserve.
I'm grateful for the opportunity to keep learning and look forward to putting these skills into practice with the amazing students and families I work with.

I always like to tell my clients, everyone has executive functioning skills. Whether you’re neurodiverse or not. It’s a matter of these skills ARE exceptionally challenging for those who are neurodiverse. Also, just because you struggle doesn’t mean you’re failing at all the skills. There’s a wide scope of how executive functioning skills are used in our daily lives and there’s just as many strategies to find the ones that support success for your neurodivergent brain!
Executive functioning is an umbrella term that includes MANY skill areas! Here is a resource page that has information and tools to support this development in functional tasks like learning and daily activities: https://www.theottoolbox.com/executive-functioning-skills/
