We created our own constellations today and hung them up on the windows to see the designs. We’ve really been loving our space unit and learning all about space!
Welcome to Miss Ray’s Third Grade

Friendship Party💝

We filled up our New Year disco ball and earned a class reward of making slime. Our next class reward is our Olympic podium GOING FOR GOLD🥇🥈🥉
Today, we read the story Chrysanthemum, which is about a little mouse who gets made fun of at school for her name. Each time the other kids said unkind things to her, we crumpled our hearts. We learned the lesson that our words can hurt people more than we know and even if we think it’s a joke, the other person may not.
We also channeled our creative side and turned a heart into something else. Our hearts turn in to all sorts of things from donuts, to princesses, to dragons and more!
We’ve been doing a lot of group work with randomly assigned partners. We have been working extremely hard on how to work with new people, how to speak kindly to each other, and how to be a good classmate. We have been doing a great job with this.
We can’t wait for our Friendship Party tomorrow!💌

Happy Monday and first school day of February!
We spent some time this morning reviewing our expectations, specifically our “More and Less” goals for the 2026 year.
In math we have been learning about scaled pictographs and bar graphs. Today, we worked in groups to come up with a poll question, gather data, and create a pictograph with an appropriate scale. Tomorrow, we will create our bar graph and then choose one to put on an anchor chart and display in the hallway!
In science, we worked with our tables to read and answer questions about graphs showing the average precipitation and temperature of cities.

We started our morning off with a Happy New Year BTC activity—students alternated turns to spell Happy New Year. 🎉
In science, we’ve been exploring various life cycles of living things. Today, we observed mealworms and will observe their life cycle from the larva stage (mealworm) through metamorphosis into their adult stage (darkling beetle). 🔄

Happy New Year!🥳
We had an absolutely wonderful first day of 2026!🎉We spent the day having fun and reviewing our class expectations, talked about the things we did over winter break, and set goals for this year.
We started the day by reviewing our class expectations. As I see students following expectations, they will get to color in a square on the disco ball AND put a marble in our class reward jar. We will get a class reward when we fill each one!🪩
We listened to the story “Squirrel’s New Year’s Resolution” which talked about what a resolution is and why you should make them. Then, we each completed a 2026 More and Less chart with things we want to do more and less of at school and in our personal lives. After, we created a class chart to refer to as well throughout the rest of the year. ✅
We reflected our our favorite moments from last year and set goals to accomplish this year🏆
We ended the day with reviewing normal classroom routines and playing a “stand up, sit down” game with things we did over break.
