On Thursday, May 28, we celebrated the Class of 2026 at their graduation celebration. In the company of their families, teachers, and fellow graduates, and per tradition, each student delivered a short address reflecting on their time at Forsyth, and looking forward to what's next. This final public speaking opportunity is both incredibly impressive and movingly memorable.
The ceremony also included inspiring remarks from Head of School Mr. Rob Butler and Upper Division Director Ms. Stephanie Teachout, as well as recognition of departing families by Board President Abigail George (FS '93). And no Forsyth graduation would be complete without the presentation of diplomas and puzzle pieces by the Grade 6 teachers (Mr. Joe Kaminski, Mrs. Teresa Otto, Ms. Lizzy Ruzicka, and Mrs. Susan Zareh) and Ms. Teachout.

It's been a great first week of !
This week, our pre-primary campers enjoyed a week of wonder (and nature walks!). Campers in Sr-K through Grade 2 became animal architects, explored art in the park, and traversed the climbing wall and high ropes course. Older campers in Grades 3β6 tinkered with tools, mastered Mahjong, and braved the heat with daily extreme bike treks.
We can't wait to see what activities are in store for week two!

We were pleased as punch to welcome the members of the Class of 2020 and their parents back to campus for a reunion celebration to mark their high school graduation! The pandemic kept the Class of 2020 from many of their Grade 6 capstone experiences, so we all wanted this reunion to be extra special.
After the high school graduates were introduced at the year's last all-school assembly, they exited The Rand Center for their very own Froot Loop parade, a last-day-of-school tradition! Later, the students revisited their Challenge Days by tackling the climbing wall and high ropes course.
Special thanks to Coaches Justin Harris and Jen Ulsas for leading the day's Adventure Center activities.

What do and breakfast cereal have in common? Why, our Froot Loop Parade, of course!
Each year on the last day of school, our graduating Grade 6 students pair up with their Pre-K Little Friends to parade around the perimeter of the playground as their families, teachers, and fellow students pelt them with (you guessed it) Froot Loops!
After the parade and the official class photo, the graduates enjoy a sit-down breakfast together with a side of inspiration from Head of School Rob Butler. Then it's back to campus for graduation rehearsal and early dismissal before the evening graduation festivities!

's Adventure Center progression begins with observation of the climbing wall in Eyas and Pre-K, followed by a more formal introduction to the climbing wall in Jr-K and the flying squirrel in Sr-K. By Grade 1, students are introduced to the high ropes course, where they tackle increasingly complex challenges in Grades 2β6.
The journey culminates in a special tradition during the last week of Grade 6, when students walk the Shelton Span high beam. Each student is hoisted onto the beam by their classmates, then walks across to sign their name in "the book." Here, they leave heartfelt messages for their Little Friends and younger siblings to discover during their own future beam walks.
Shout out to Coaches Justin Harris and Jen Ulsas for developing and facilitating the Adventure Center curriculum, and to Mr. Joe Kaminski (Grade 6) for the awesome GoPro photos!

A family-favorite event, students in Jr-K and above ran the mile on the track at Francis Olympic Field on the Washington University in St. Louis campus on Thursday, May 21!
Jr-K students are especially fun to watch for their first year on the massive track! In addition to running, these young students are learning and practicing how to stay in the inside lanes, use sticks to count their laps, and pace themselvesβand SO much more! It was awesome to see of all ages supporting their classmates as running buddies, and with lots of clapping and cheering!
Back on Friday, April 24, students in Grades 5 and 6 participated in the Jim Hoots Memorial Track Meet at Saint Louis Priory School, which brings together fifth- and sixth-grade students from different Independent Schools of St. Louis / ISSL.
Special thanks to Coaches Justin Harris and Jen Ulsas for organizing and continuing these important traditions!

One week ago today, our students celebrated rising up to the next grade level on our "Taking Flight" Transition Day!
In the morning, students in Grade 5 and below visited their next year's classrooms and teachers for a closer look at what's to come! Students in Grades 3 and up created a special "run tunnel" for Grade 2 students as a welcome to the Upper Division! Then, everyone gathered in The Rand Center for the last All-School Assembly of the year, featuring a song performance by Grade 6. After that, everyone headed outside for a Big Friend & Little Friend picnic!
Later that afternoon, families joined us in The Rand Center for our annual mapping exhibition, featuring memory maps from Grade 4 (the United States), Grade 5 (the Western Hemisphere), and Grade 6 (the world!). New this year, Grade 3 presented stunning Missouri state maps created on sheets of aluminum, highlighting specific rivers and trails with color and texture.

Best wishes to Mrs. Donna Militello, who retires from this summer after an outstanding 37 years! Donna was hired by former Head of School Dr. Becky Glenn when the campus consisted of just two houses(!), Fillmore and Dunbar. Over the years, "Mrs. M" taught Jr-K, Sr-K, and Grade 1, ending her decades-long tenure with Sr-K.
As she looks toward retirement, Donna hopes her former students carry one thing with them: a sense of belonging. "I hope they have the fondest memories of Forsyth," she says. "A place that helped them grow with love and security."
While her daily presence will be deeply missed, Donna's impact will continue to be felt for generations to come in the readers she inspired, the confidence she nurtured, the traditions she created, and the community she helped to shape.
