Center for Sustainability Speaker Series
The Center for Sustainability Speaker Series will offer a lecture from 3 to 4 p.m., Friday, Dec. 4, at the Center for Global Citizenship, Room 124.
Thomas Crawford, Ph.D., will present a talk titled "The Fluidity of Resilience: Panarchy as a Model for the Coupling of Monsoon Dynamics, Riverbank Erosion, and Human Adaptive Response."
Crawford is professor and Banpu Chair of sustainability at the Center for Sustainability. This talk will describe ongoing research in the delta region of Bangladesh.

Dr. Allison Miller and members of her lab traveled to The Land Institute in Salina, Kansas this past weekend to attend the Prairie Festival. Allison gave an update about the global perennial grains inventory project, a collaboration between the Land Institute, Saint Louis University Department of Biology with funding support from the Center for Sustainability, and the Missouri Botanical Garden. Panel Discussion: Pope Francis’s Encyclical about ‘Care for Our Common Home’
As Pope Francis prepares for his first visit to the United States later this month, a panel of SLU experts will discuss his recent encyclical on ‘care for our common home.' The panel and discussion will be at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16, in the Center for Global Citizenship Auditorium. William Rehg, S.J. (Dean, Philosophy and Letters) will introduce and moderate the panel.

The Center for Sustainability will be hosting an open house from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, in Des Peres Hall, Room 203. The Center's students, faculty and staff will be on hand with some community partners to talk about the Center's academic programs, research opportunities, engagement efforts and more. All those interested in learning more about the Center and its programs are welcome to attend. The Center for Sustainability offers graduate degrees in Sustainability, Urban Planning and Development, and Geographic Information Science.
