With the announcement today that school will be all virtual until at least October, this will mean that Desi and Mrs. Marion’s ability to directly help the children in our Lemay community through in person visits will be delayed.
We here at Paws On Wellness are looking for alternative ways that we can help and would love to hear your suggestions! What can we do to help you and your families? I’ve had some parents help their children read to Desi on Facebook messenger, some friends have been driven by Desi’s house to wave and call out greetings, and some have reached out through their parents to express how much they miss us. ❤️❤️
Please let us know by commenting below which/what we can do to help:
Facebook live broadcasts?
Neighborhood visits with social distance talks?
Facebook posts of encouragement?
Something else?
I’m reaching out to the Mutt-i-grees Curriculum program facilitators for guidance and will post an update here with any suggestions they have.
Please stay safe and supportive during this national and international crisis.
Hancock Reopening Plan Urgent Update
07/17/2020
I finally have an announcement about the impact that COVID-19 will have on Desi and his visits at Hancock Place Elementary School.
This week I spoke with Dr. Jill Wright, principal at the elementary school. Since this virus and it’s effects are still fluctuating wildly, the school feels (and I agree) that it would be best to limit access in the school to essential staff only.
Neither Dr. Wright or I are saying that Desi is not essential in the school. We are talking only about a delay in our being present in the building until the end of September or so. Hopefully, by then, there will be substantial progress in making things safer for everyone.
You may or may not know that the first month or so of each school year is when the specialists are testing each student. They then assess each student to determine which are needing extra help, either educationally or emotionally and how to best provide that help. That’s where Desi and I come in.
In the meantime, remember that Desi and I are still here in Lemay and I am still hand making masks. Feel free to contact me if Desi or I can help any of our Lemay family. We love and miss you but hope to see you soon.
For information on my masks, check out the mask album on my sewing page, ME Creations For You.
Thank you all for your love and support!
