Cornerstone Center for Early Learning Cornerstone provides quality, comprehensive, and affordable childcare and education. Founded in 1969 and located in the St. Louis City.

Cornerstone enables all children and all families to experience diversity, and to embrace the understanding and acceptance that follows. Louis Shaw neighborhood, Cornerstone was the first accredited early learning center in St. Cornerstone prepares students for a lifetime of positive social interaction and learning. We believe that children learn best from active involvement with all aspects of the world. From their earliest days at Cornerstone, students explore the beginnings of reading, writing, math, art and science as they play in water, pound on playdough, draw and paint, sing and dance, or cook and bake. Through "hands on/minds on" learning, they build the early foundations of autonomous behavior, taking responsibility for their learning, and accepting the natural consequences of their decisions.

Happy TWENTY-EIGHTH anniversary to Ms. Jami! For 28 years, Ms. Jami has been a tireless advocate for Cornerstone and the children and families we serve. As our Developmental Specialist, she pours her heart into securing the vital funding that makes so much of our work possible.

But ask anyone, and they’ll tell you that Jami’s impact goes far beyond grant writing. She is deeply kind, thoughtful, generous with her time, and always ready to lend a hand. She brings intelligence, compassion, and an unwavering belief in the work we do to everything she touches. And, of course, no meeting with Jami is complete without her signature sign-off: “Thanks family!”

She meets every challenge with grace and greets every person with warmth, creating a welcoming atmosphere for generations of families. Happy THIRD anniversary to Ms. Arnashia! We’re celebrating three years with Arnashia, our indispensable administrative assistant. She does a little (actually a lot) of everything, knows how nearly every system at Cornerstone works, and is often the very first friendly face new staff meet. She walks people through paperwork and prestart training with warmth and bubbly energy, and she’s always ready to jump in and help wherever she’s needed. Honestly, we would be lost without her.

Happy TWENTY-FOURTH anniversary to Ms. Markie! Over the past 24 years, Ms. Markie has worn so many hats and made her mark in countless ways throughout our organization.
One thing that has never changed is her incredible ability to connect with children. She has a natural way of meeting them where they are and making every child feel seen, understood, and valued.
She’ll also always keep you on your toes with her quick wit and sense of humor! And if you ever find yourself facing a technical issue, look no further. Chances are Ms. Markie already has a solution!

We are so incredibly thankful for Ms. Markie and the 24 years of dedication, laughter, expertise, and service she has shared with Cornerstone. What a gift it is to have someone who has been such an important part of our community for more than two decades!

Happy SECOND anniversary to Ms. Sarah in the Tigers classroom! Ms. Sarah has a seemingly never-ending supply of patience, a nickname for every child, and an incredible ability to anticipate exactly what her little Tigers need before they even ask. She brings warmth, humor, and plenty of playfulness to her classroom, creating a space where children feel safe, supported, and completely themselves.

She is also a tremendous teammate, bringing thoughtfulness, responsibility, and clear communication to her partnership with her co-teacher. Whether she’s comforting a child, making them laugh, helping them work through a challenge, or joining right in on the fun, Ms. Sarah shows up for her students and her team every day.

Thank you, Ms. Sarah, for the patience, laughter, comfort, and care you bring to the Tigers! We are so lucky to have you at Cornerstone. 🥰🎉

Part 3 and the final part of our farm stand photos! Our little gardeners proudly “sold” their freshly harvested produce and homemade lemonade at pick-up. The kids had SO much fun showing off everything they had grown, made, and worked so hard on. They were absolutely beaming with pride as they welcomed their grown-ups to shop.

It was the perfect way to celebrate the fruits (and veggies!) of their labor. 🌱💚

Part 2 of our farm stand! Last week, our little gardeners brought their hard work to life! They squeezed lemons for fresh lemonade and harvested tomatoes, basil, mint, cucumbers, and even pumpkins from our Community Garden.

Our farm stand gave the children a chance to “sell” their harvest to their grown ups at pick up. They practiced communication, cooperation, and patience. Stay tuned for the final part of these adorable farm stand photos! 🍋🥒

Our incredible junior board, Friends of Cornerstone Center, recently rolled up their sleeves to build and paint a brand-new farm stand for our preschoolers!

The farm stand will give our children a place to “sell” the fruits and vegetables they grow and harvest from our Community Garden. The children have already had their first chance to sell their garden goodies to their parents, and they absolutely loved it! Keep a look out for more photos in the coming days!

Happy SECOND Anniversary, Ms. Sarah as our Outdoor Classroom Educator! Deeply devoted to early childhood education, Ms. Sarah brings a special sense of whimsy and childlike wonder to our Certified Outdoor Classroom. She creates thoughtful and exciting learning experiences that invite every child to explore, ask questions, get messy, and discover the world around them.

Through her work in our Outdoor Classroom and Community Garden, Ms. Sarah creates a beautiful bridge between home and school learning. Children get hands-on experience planting, growing, harvesting, and tasting food, often trying something new for the very first time.

Whether they’re digging in the dirt, discovering a tiny garden creature, watching a seed become a plant, or proudly tasting something they helped grow, Ms. Sarah reminds our children that learning can happen everywhere.

Thank you, Ms. Sarah, for creating a space where questions are always welcome, getting messy is encouraged, and wonder is celebrated. We are so grateful for the joy, magic, and curiosity you bring to Cornerstone every day! 🎉🥰
