For 50 years, Lemay Child and Family Center has been a place where children are loved, nurtured, and given the opportunity to thrive; where families find support during some of life’s most challenging moments; and where our community comes together around the belief that every child deserves access to high-quality early childhood education, regardless of their family’s income or circumstances.
Reaching our 50th anniversary is an extraordinary milestone, and it belongs to everyone who has been part of the LCFC story.
Since opening our doors in 1976, generations of children and families have come through the Center. Over the years, our programs have grown and evolved to meet the changing needs of our community, but our commitment to children and families has remained constant. Today, we continue that legacy by providing high-quality early childhood education for children from six weeks through five years of age, along with scholarships, family support services, developmental resources, and trauma-informed services that support the whole child and the whole family.
We have the privilege of seeing the impact of this work every day. When a baby reaches an important developmental milestone, when a preschooler gains the confidence and skills needed for kindergarten, when a parent knows their child is safe and cared for while they go to work, and when a family facing a difficult time knows they have somewhere to turn for help.
None of these moments happen in isolation. They are possible because of an incredible community of teachers, staff, families, volunteers, board members, donors, businesses, churches, foundations, and community partners who have believed in the mission of Lemay Child and Family Center throughout the past five decades.
On October 17, we will come together to celebrate all of them, and all of you!
We will also have the privilege of recognizing Julie Murphy for her extraordinary dedication and years of service to Lemay Child and Family Center. Julie will be named an Emeritus Board Member and honored with the Cloria Brown Do Something Award, recognizing the spirit of leadership, service, and action that has helped shape LCFC and our community.
