Congratulations Rohan! And good luck in Columbia in April.
has some exciting news! Marquette High School student Rohan Deshpande’s documentary, “Buttons, Baby Teeth, and Bombs: The St. Louis Baby Tooth Projects” has been awarded second place in the 14-16 age bracket for the Latest Generation Film Contest. This contest is made possible by the Lincoln Presidential Foundation and The Better Angels Society through the Amy Margerum Berg Education Fund.
The program invited Midwest filmmakers to create short historical documentaries based on the theme “On This Land.” The selected films will premiere at a red-carpet event in Chicago this summer. Deshpande’s documentary, which he researched extensively at The State Historical Society of Missouri's St. Louis Research Center, also received accolades at the national contest, where he earned the “Untold Stories in History” special prize. Additionally, the Harvard Public School of Health interviewed Rohan about his documentary because they are running a follow-up study on the baby tooth survey.
Congratulations, Rohan! Job well done!
