Improv Theater and Training Center The Improv Shop aims to create original, dynamic and fun shows using the tools of Chicago-style improv.

Its training program is the only multi-level program of its kind in the city and is accessible to students of all ability and skill levels. Improv training is a powerful and necessary tool for the working actor, a fun way to become a more confident public speaker, and an exciting means of self-expression.

We’ve got a really special treat for you!!

This Monday, Chad Damiani will direct some of our bravest local improvisers as they dive deep into the cruel, perilous (and fun) world of modern clown! Will the players give the audience the show of their lives or crumble under the pressure of the Clown Boss?

Chad is one of the architects of the modern LA clown scene, an ensemble member of Stamptown (just filmed their first Netflix special!) and hosts the podcast “Stand Up and Clown.”

Come out and give our special guest a warm welcome and all of the improvisers the support they will desperately need as they try to appease the Clown Boss!

We keep getting weather updates for tonight that include fun phrases like “apple-sized hail,” so out of an abundance of caution we are canceling classes this evening.

Please stay safe out there!

THE BIGGEST IMPROV AWARDS SHOW OF THE YEAR HAPPENS THIS WEEK.

For those who don’t know, the Peen Choice Awards is an annual tradition that takes over an entire evening at The Improv Shop. People dress up in their best red carpet attire to celebrate the most incredible movies no one has ever seen. The cast is made up of new and veteran improvisers alike, performing scenes from these movies in hopes of winning a coveted Peen Choice Award!

There’s so so much other good stuff happening this week (Finding Florida Man, Sound & Color’s debut, and more!)
