Academy at Lindbergh

Today Dr. Murphy made the mistake of teaching "Cause and Effect" by describing how the movie _The Dark Crystal_ made him hate puppets. Two students decided to put these images on their screens and silently wait for him to notice.

They were punished accordingly, lol.

The Academy was excited to invite recent Webster U. grad Aanihya Beckwith to talk to our art classes about her experiences and artistic methods.

AUTHOR GUEST SPEAKER!!!!!!!

I am SO EXCITED!!! I am teaching a True Crime English 4 class this year. One of my Academy students checked out this book from the LHS library for me to read. She thought I might want to use it.

The book was so good that we started reading an excerpt online (not enough money in the budget this year to buy a classroom set). Well, the kids are enjoying it so much that I write an email to the author, who responded that she would LOVE to join us on the 29th for a Google Meet videoconference.

I am just over the moon. And it is all because this kid felt safe suggesting a book.

I just received another email from the Ukrainian Consulate in Chicago seeking help in tutoring Ukrainian refugees. All of these amazing opportunities are coming from a simple email that I sent out on a whim.
