Congratulations to Driptaa Chakraborty, AB ’26, who has been awarded a Fulbright U.S. Student Program grant for the 2026-27 academic year. She will use the grant to visit India and study Patan Patola weaving, a method of creating complex textiles in India, as a case study for the intersection of computation, manufacturing, and textile-based fabrication.

Trustee and WashU alumna Vicki Match Suna has made a pledge to establish and endow the Carmon Colangelo Award for Creative Research and Innovation at the Sam Fox School.
The Colangelo Award — honoring Dean Carmon Colangelo's leadership and longstanding commitment to faculty development — will provide grants of at least $25,000 to advance research, scholarship, and creative practice.

Effective July 1, Associate Professor Arny Nadler will return as chair of undergraduate studio art in the Sam Fox School at WashU. He will lead the program’s curriculum development and implementation, operations, exhibitions, and events. He succeeds Meghan Kirkwood, who has been appointed director of the College & Graduate School of Art after serving as chair of undergraduate studio art since 2023.
Nadler is an accomplished artist and previously served as chair of undergraduate studio art from 2013 to 2018. He has also served as the school’s area coordinator for sculpture and 3D foundations and worked closely with students on the annual University City Public Art Series, a collaboration between the Sam Fox School and the Municipal Commission on Arts & Letters of University City. He is a recipient of grants and fellowships from the George Sugarman Foundation, the Regional Arts Commission, and the Sam Fox School. Nadler has works in the permanent collection of the Daum Museum of Contemporary Art and is currently included in the 26th San Angelo North American Ceramic Competition at the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts. He has had recent solo exhibitions at the Haggerty Gallery of the University of Dallas; Northern Clay Center in Minneapolis; Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois; and Jacksonville University in Florida.
