Gallery 210@FAB is pleased to open its 2026/2027 season with Itsy Bitsy Spider, an exhibition of powerful, enigmatic, and deeply felt work by Samantha Hunerlach-Tulin exploring time, emotion, artifact, and the meditation between them. Together, the pieces form a kind of collective tapestry of memory and one’s relationship to it.

Join us for the reception of Hung Together on January 29th,
5 - 7pm @ the FAB!

Hung Together is an exhibition of artworks made by UMSL Art and Design faculty and their students. This exhibition explores the traditions and dynamics of faculty and students working together. It delivers important learning outcomes for our students and celebrates the work being done by both our faculty and our majors. By placing the work of a professor and student next to one another, a kind of dialogue is created which offers moments of reflection on creative research and exchange. Students gain further experience in exhibiting their art, writing, and talking about the art and creative process. Faculty have the chance to further demonstrate professional practice and engage in deeper dialogue about their art practice with their students.

The Department of Art + Design invites you to NON FINITO: The Art of the Incomplete, a mid-year exhibition showcasing the work of senior Graphic Design and Studio Art students at UMSL. This exhibition offers an inside look at the development of their capstone projects, celebrating process, exploration, and creativity.

In Italian, non finito means "not finished," celebrating the intentional act of leaving portions of work incomplete. Our seniors are exploring diverse topics and media, from sculpture and painting to animation and app design, each project showcasing unique narratives and concepts.
Join us in supporting these talented students as they work toward completing their BFA. You won't want to miss an evening of exceptional art and conversation. We look forward to seeing you there!

JOIN US FOR A SUMMER SHOW!
Opening Reception Friday June 27th, 2025 | 5-7 pm

Group Dynamic is a series of paintings that explore how individuals navigate extreme environments—sometimes aided, sometimes hindered by the presence of others. Some figures are driven by discovery, others by the mission to rescue or recover what’s been lost. Power dynamics emerge as both a force for success and a path to collapse.

Clad in red garments designed for protection, the figures are visually unified. Their safety gear signals danger, yet also strips away individuality, reinforcing the identity of the group over the person. Some collaborate. Others fracture. Stragglers fall behind.

Each image captures a different outcome in a shared narrative: parallel possibilities within the same unfolding story.

What happens in the brain when we shift from a plain white room to a gallery full of sensory richness?

Landmarks of the Mind is a hands-on public humanities workshop blending neuroscience, art, and technology. Using Muse S Athena headsets, participants will observe how their brainwaves respond in two different environments: a minimal space and an art-filled one. Real-time EEG data will be captured and transformed into visual ribbon-like waveforms. These brainwave visuals will then be used to generate 3D-printed cognitive sculptures, offering each participant a unique, tactile model of their own neural response to art.
