It's June and it's time for your summer clay-cation at South Broadway Art Project! Summer-time for Members at SBAP feels a bit like summer camp for adults and we invite YOU to join us! All of these mug-shot Monday Mugs were recently made by beginners in the Make-A-Mug Workshop and Beginner Pottery class. You do NOT need to have any prior experience with pottery to take classes at SBAP but you do need to have a willingness to try new things as we believe creativity is a skill not a talent. Throughout the month of June we will be sharing practical ways you can embrace the 4 Core Truths about Creativity and actionable ways you can get started.

➡️ Swipe to see our daily schedule for this week, this month, and all summer long for members as well as ala' carte' classes for one-time students too. Beginners and all levels are welcome ✌🏼🫶🏽🙌🏿

There are so many well made, designed, and crafted pieces that came out of this week's glaze kiln's. Nice work everyone and if you see your work in the week's round-up feel free to tag yourself, comment or share ✌🏻🫶🏽🙌🏿🔥

Let's put our hands together for this beauty featuring drippy layers of dreamy goodness. While these drips may look accidental or perhaps a happy accident, they are actually very intentional. This level of drippy success represents many failures and runny pots that perhaps ran had to be hammered off the kiln shelf. Learning how to apply glaze to achieve desired results often involves lots testing and trial and error. At SBAP we believe that making pottery is all about the process and not always the end product. How many times are you willing to fail in order to reach a whole new level of success? Whether you need support, coaching, cheering, instruction, good conversation, or just some good ole fashioned playing in the mud...we are here for you ✌🏼🫶🏽🙌🏿

SBAP just had some wonderful re-fab facade improvements done on both of our buildings courtesy of a generous grant right from our one of our own neighborhood organizations Dutchtown Main Streets! Our main entrance had some wood work repairs, and a complete re-paint with all new colors which we LOVE! Our other entrance to the pottery studio had alot of brick damage from recent storms which we were able to get repaired which means peace-of-mind and no more bricks falling on the sidewalk! We are so incredibly thankful to have so much support and encouragement from our community partners and are so honored to be able to do the work we do in such a wonderful city and in our opinion there really is no better place to live and work than South City Saint Louis...and while the architecture and food scene are truly one-of-a-kind it is by far the PEOPLE who make our studio, street, neighborhood, and city a diverse, eclectic, heart-full and lovely community that is for EVERYONE ✌🏻🫶🏽🙌🏿
