π± From seed to harvest, Lift for Life Academy elementary students are experiencing the full circle of growing food in their school garden.
Through the Garden Education Program, students learn hands-on lessons about:
πΌ Pollinators
π± Sowing seeds
π Helpful insects vs. pests
πΏ Plant parts & harvesting
β»οΈ Decomposition
π₯¬ Washing and eating fresh produce right from the garden beds
Led by School Garden Educator Erin Bernsen, the program began with students digging into the soil to discover the biology beneath their feet. From planting sugar snap peas in February to harvesting lettuce, spinach, herbs, and collard green blossoms this spring, students are learning where healthy food comes from - one garden bed at a time.
