Last night, we celebrated our newest cohort as they begin the professional/master's phase of the SLU Athletic Training program. Each student received a hot-off-the-press SLU Athletic Training patch for their Nexus Sports Medicine bag and a fleur de lis lapel pin, symbols of the work ahead and the community they're now a part of. 💙

Between favorite snacks, trivia, video games, and card games, it was a great night of laughs, friendly competition, and connection across our AT family.

Contemporary clinical practice is a core part of our Master of Athletic Training program.

Students get experience with advanced clinical skills, including practicing IV insertion, to help prepare them for the kind of care they'll provide in clinical and sports medicine settings. 💉💪

We’re celebrating National Rehabilitation Awareness Week! 🎉

It’s a great opportunity to celebrate the people who make rehabilitation special and recognize the impact we have on our patients, their families, and our community. Athletic Trainers play a vital role in safe rehabilitation and return-to-physical activity following injury. We work within an interprofessional team to ensure our patients develop the necessary range, strength, power, and performance to meet the physical demands of life and sport.

We're proud to share that our program director, Katie Sniffen, PhD, ATC, was recently featured on NATA-Cast, the podcast of the National Athletic Trainers' Association! As chair of the Athletic Training and Public Health Committee, Dr. Sniffen discusses how public health intersects with athletic training — from injury prevention and safe participation in physical activity to how public health shapes advocacy for the profession. Give it a listen on your preferred platform!

Every chat, no matter how small, builds a more supportive and understanding society. It's about shifting from a culture of silence and stigma to one of openness, understanding, and support. That's why we have Mental Health First Aid training built directly into our curriculum. As future athletic trainers, our students are equipped with the skills to recognize mental health challenges and take meaningful action within the communities they serve.
