Make sure your juniors are signing up to take the PSAT through their high school. While the PSAT is not used for college admissions, it is used to qualify for the National Merit competition.

Summer break is a great time for low-stress college visits for sophomores and juniors. You can even just walk around college campuses near your vacation spots. It can give students a sense of different size campuses or whether they like urban, suburban, or rural campuses.

Welcome to Bender College Consulting. Allison Bender has a BA in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and is a former alumni interviewer for Penn. She has MA in school counseling from Missouri Baptist University and has worked as a high school counselor for the past several years.

Allison lives in St Louis with her family and two dogs. Her son is a sophomore at Haverford College, and her daughter is a junior in high school.
