We took a day trip to Washington, MO, where we visited : one of the best and unique bookstores in the Midwest!
Just an hour outside of St. Louis, Washington is a small town with a storybook feel, and great views of the Missouri River. Neighborhood Reads is situated inside a cute home, with rooms of books, gifts, stationery, JELLYCAT, and anything book lovers crave.
We grabbed the Strutton Pigeon, some stickers, and a copy of the newly released “Judy Blume: A Life,” by Mark Oppenheimer.
And we couldn’t leave without adding a few copies of “Cannon’s Crash Course,” by Mon Trice, a beloved featured title courtesy of to Benji’s Bookhouse free library.
is coming up in April, so be sure to add Neighborhood Reads to your bookstore crawl list!
I refuse to live in a city without joy and without hope. Where we tell the kids to stay in school, but fund the police to profile and inflict violence. And I’m done repeating myself.

Action St. Louis and ArchCity Defenders are two leading justice organizations in St. Louis, MO.
On the weekend of 2/27 and 2/28 they will be opening the doors to the Northside Movement
Center! It is more than just a building, more than just a hub – it’s a commitment to community
care, to continued holistic advocacy and a tangible investment in the Northside.
Let’s support this

Saturday, there will be a fundraising luncheon to help support and sustain the space. Together, let's build--a home for movement.

Rest in peace to the incomparable Rev. Jesse Jackson. The first photo in this carousel was taken by STL native and photographer Mr. James Carrington. Carrington traveled to Atlanta for Dr. King's funeral and burial in 1968.
The photo is part of the James Carrington collection at the archives. The photo evokes emotion of being part of history, even if this particular photograph did not make it to print. Rev. Jackson was arn in arm with Dr. King, even until his final voyage.
The final photo is of Mr. Carrington himself, with his granddaughter. All images credit to Missouri History Library.
