As part of our theme of Renewing the Mission, this week we had some intentional Professional Development as a Faculty & Staff exploring the question, ‘What is a Catholic Missionary School today?’
Beginning with Adoration in the Abbey Church, we then heard from guest speaker Dr. John Sehorn, who is the Academic Dean of the Augustine Institute here in St. Louis.
He outlined key teachings of the Church and recent Popes on how evangelization, human dignity, and the essential work of education are distinctive in Catholic schools, enabling us to build bridges, change culture more broadly, and bring the Good News of Jesus Christ to our students, staff, and wider world.
The small group discussions were rich and broad following this lecture. Many of us also joined the monastic community for midday prayer prior to lunch.
