The people are what make Fennel special, and John is a huge part of that.
This August marks two years since he taught his very first class here, and to celebrate, he’s bringing back Sabor Colombiano—the class that started it all!
If you’ve taken one of John’s classes, you know they’re about so much more than cooking. He creates a space where everyone belongs, whether you’ve been in the kitchen for years or you’re learning how to chop an onion for the very first time. People come to learn a recipe, but they leave with new skills, new confidence, and often a few new friends.
John’s love for Latin American cooking comes from years spent living abroad, where home cooks welcomed him into their kitchens and shared traditions that can’t always be found in a cookbook. Every dish he teaches carries those stories with it, making this class feel as much about culture and connection as it is about incredible food.
If you’ve been waiting for the perfect class to take with John, this is it.
On August 14, you’ll cook your way through a Colombian menu featuring:
• Hand-formed arepas with huevos pericos and maduros
• Crispy shrimp patacones with radish slaw
• Chicken patacones with cabbage salad
• Arroz con leche
Whether you’re looking to sharpen your cooking skills, discover the vibrant flavors of Colombia, or simply spend an evening around the table with good people, we’d love to have you there.
