Welcome to the flock, Cornbread!

MAP’s very own Chicken Manager, Ash, has been hard at work behind the scenes, thoughtfully planning and guiding the introduction of our newest feathered friend. From creating a careful health plan to managing her gradual meet-and-greet with the flock, this is hands-on learning at its finest—where animal husbandry meets responsibility, patience, and care.

After some time settling in, Cornbread is now confidently strutting her stuff alongside her coop-mates. This 2-year-old Buff Brahma has officially found her place in the pecking order—and in our hearts.

Fun fact: Cornbread lays beautiful brown eggs!

At MAP, every new addition to the flock is more than just exciting—it’s an opportunity for students to engage deeply with urban agriculture, build meaningful connections with animals, and experience the rhythms of care and community firsthand.

Stay tuned for more updates from the coop!

Our IB Art students have been exploring the world through a new lens this quarter as they dive into the art of photography!

From capturing the stunning architecture and light at Spring Church, to the natural beauty of Tower Grove Park, and the playful landscapes of Park Like, students have embraced every opportunity to experiment with perspective and composition.

Closer to home, they’ve also discovered inspiration right here on campus—snapping incredible images in the herpetarium and even venturing into microscopic photography for a truly unique point of view.

As they study the many elements of photography—composition, style, lighting, and storytelling—these budding photographers are learning to see the extraordinary in both the grand and the minute.

We can’t wait to see how their creativity continues to develop!

Last week, our Middle School biology students at MAP St. Louis dove into the study of internal structures!

As part of their exploration of adaptations and evolution, students engaged in a hands-on shark dissection—an impactful way to see how structure supports survival in the natural world.

This experience also served as a bridge into their next unit on body systems, building curiosity and deepening their understanding of how living organisms function.

We loved seeing their engagement and can’t wait to share more glimpses of their discoveries!

We’re celebrating Women’s History Month in the most inspiring way at the MAP 3840 Gallery!

Visiting artist Megan Singleton recently led our art students through a hands-on marbling workshop! Her work is also featured in our current exhibition, “Women Making Their Mark: Exploring the Dynamic Relationship Between Art and Science,” now on view in the MAP Gallery.

This incredible exhibition was made possible through a generous grant from AAUW (American Association of University Women), awarded in honor of Women’s History Month. Beyond supporting the exhibition, this grant is already making an impact in our classrooms—today we welcomed FOUR brand new microscopes into the MAP science lab!

From the gallery to the lab, we’re celebrating the innovation, creativity, and impact of women—past, present, and future.

Stop by the MAP 3840 Gallery to experience the exhibition and see how art and science come together in powerful ways!
