Affton Bands

Music educators are musicians first: Mr. Lupka performed as a member the choir of the Bach Society of St. Louis along with their orchestra for the annual Candlelight Concert at Powell Hall, home of the St. Louis Symphony. (Band directors can sing, too!) 🎶🎄🎶

A big thanks to the for the opportunity to be a part of this amazing event, and also for their educational outreach programs in partnership with the Des Lee Fine Arts Collaborative.

Several students and alumni from and Affton Bands programs recently performed as part of the Orchestrating Diversity program: an amazing community music program that provides music lessons, mentorship, and culminates in symphony orchestra concerts throughout the year. In addition to the students, Orchestrating Diversity invites adult professional musicians to sit in with the orchestra so that all of the instrument parts are covered, so Mr. and Mrs. Lupka joined the brass section for the day! Affton Community Band concert was a success! Hopefully next year we’ll have some Affton students joining these three marching band instructors! Big thanks to the Director, Mr. Dave Eding and others who make great programs like this possible.

Congrats to all involved in the AHS Drama Club production of “My Fair Lady!” Members of the HS band program attended opening night to support their fellow band members in the cast, crew, and pit orchestra. Great job everyone!

In the Affton Bands program, we strive to foster an attitude of gratitude. Pictured are Jack and Penny McNees, some of our biggest fans and a couple who recently made a very generous donation to the program. They’re holding a thank-you card signed by all of our high school band members and they’re rocking uniform polos as honorary members of the Affton Bands.
